“Don't Stay Here”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2011

if you are on vacation, unless you enjoy staying in ugly, charmless, concrete boxes located between strip malls and the highway, far away from the lovely downtown area of Portsmouth. Instead, stay in a downtown hotel with a view of the water or, better yet, in a local historic inn. We stayed here only because all the downtown hotels and inns were fully booked, but I was miserable returning to place each night. I gave it three stars, rather than one, because the people who work there are very kind and try hard to make up for the poor location and lack of any charm. Also, the room was noisy because the heater/AC unit shuddered and shook, and it was hard to sleep in because the clock and smoke detector lights blinked and strobed.

Room Tip: No need to add a photo; it looks like every other Hampton Inn, but in a beautiful city like Portsmou...

My husband and I stayed 2 nights. The room on the ground floor was very quiet and comfortable. This was our first trip to Portsmouth and we were pleasantly suprised to find that the hotel provides a shuttle service, at no charge, anytime during the day and early evening anywhere within a 5 mile radius of the hotel. So we left our car at the hotel and didn't have to deal with driving into the center of Portsmouth or Kittery. Because of this we will stay here again. We do agree that the pillows are too soft. A full buffet breakfast was provided and the front desk staff were very helpful and professional. While there we had a flat tire and the shuttle driver provided us with an air compressor so we didn't have to use our spare tire and then guided us to a nearby service station that repaired the tire at only a charge of $2.99!

We were there for two nights, and I thought the rate we paid was high ($175.60 including tax). The breakfast was standard Hampton fare. The room was comfortable except that the pillows were too soft. I remedied that by folding two towels together to fit inside the pillow case with the pillow. We weren't informed about happy hour and did not see lemonade or cookies. The receptionist and breakfast attendant were very friendly.

my wife and i spen 3 days here the price was a little steep ($139.00) but the service made it well worth it...the room was standard clean,comfy....the differance here compared to most other hamptons was the happy hour in the early evenings...snacks ,wine and 2 types of draft beer...fresh lemonade around the clock and above average breakfast....everybody i met here went out of there way to make sure everything was perfect..I was turned off by the price at first but after the service I recieved here it was well worth the price...I would recommend this place to anybody that wanted a great stay...It was top notch...

We stayed in this hotel for two nights last week as our base for exploring southern Maine. It is centrally located for visiting KIttery, the Maine beaches, as well as the New Hampshire/Mass coast. For the same price as a 60's drive up in the Maine Beach towns, we got a spotless modern room with a full breakfast. They take pets and have a free shuttle which we didn't use. As mentioned, the cookies are great.

For shopping, dining and touring, the location was hard to beat. Malls, big box stores and all the usual restaurant chains were in a one mile radius. I'd go back.

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor are in a wing to themselves overlooking a sunny patio adjacent to the indoor po...

This hotel is great. We stayed here for one night for a wedding we had to attend and they let us check in early to change and get ready. The room was immaculate, the bed was super comfy and the staff was more than friendly. When we came back from the wedding, there were fresh baked cookies and lemonade in the lobby, how awesome is that! The breakfast in the morning was also great. They have a waffle maker and you can make your own waffles. The downtown portsmouth hotels were so expensive in comparison to this one, i would stay here in a heartbeat. It's only two miles away from downtown anyways! If we ever come back for a long weekend, we will stay here.

The shuttle system at night was great. You could go downtown and have a good time and they do the driving for you.
