We walked through the various houses in this "living" museum. Definitely one of the highlights of the town - great visit for families and anyone interested in history.

“Fantastic glimpse into the past”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

Strawbery Banke is a unique living history museum with a collection of numerous buildings that are gathered together in a neighborhood like setting. Each building, whether it is a home or a business, depicts how people lived and worked in Portsmouth, NH. Costumed interpreters provide a history lesson about the lifestyles of the people who once occupied the buildings. This is really a wonderful place for young and old to have a glimpse into the past and enjoy a piece of our history. Highly recommended for everyone. It is open from May 1 thru October 31.

“Great historical experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We spent about 2 hours visiting this site. A great combination of walking around outside, visiting inside the houses and costumed narrators. We learned a lot.

“Fun history with great gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

A great way to learn about history. The docents are wonderful. Some in costume. The gardens are very special. You can leave, walk into Portsmouth, have lunch and go back. Really enjoyed.
