“A Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

A gem for sure. Chef used mostly seasonal local foods - some even from garden on site. It was grand eating in such a well-cared for beautiful old house with superb service. The gracious owner was quite proud of his inn & very-well should be! He didn't mind telling us about its history and showing us around the inn. Eating here will make for a lovely evening if you enjoy eating fine food.

“Quaint setting, delicious meal.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

My husband, brother, sister-in-law and I had a wonderful experience at Home Hill Inn Restaurant last Friday night. The restaurant itself is very New England and charming. The drinks were well-made and the wine selection extensive. We started off with the full cheese plate which was amazing. However, it took an extraordinarily long time for it to arrive at our table. Without prompting, the manager approached our table, apologized and told us that the cheese was on her because of the wait which I thought was very gracious. Overall, the meal was delicious and the experience fun and relaxing. I can't wait to return the next time we're in West Lebanon.

“Excellent on all fronts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

20 minutes south of Hanover and far superior to anything you'll find there. Mouth watering lobster roll, veal marsala, peach pie, creme boule. Young attentive staff. A New England Inn not ruined by some urban interior decorator (increasingly rare), in a lovely setting. All at reasonable prices.

“An Amazing Gem Chef Peter Varkonyi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

Peter Varkonyi is an excellent chef who we met at the Home Hill Inn Restaurant. We had the privilege of staying at the Home Hill Inn which is located in Plainfield New Hampshire and sits on 27 acres of rolling hills with pasturelands.

Our meals were superb as we never wanted to leave the property for the three nights and four days we were there. The fresh halibut was done to perfection and melted in your mouth- the best fish dish I have ever tasted, the white asparagus with prosciutto was divine as were the fiddleheads made to perfection. One lunch that I especially enjoyed was the lobster roll, I am not the type to eat the bread or roll but when the wait staff mentioned all the breads are made on premise I had to try it- that was my down fall because one bite led me to eat the entire roll- yes it was that good...the texture and taste was superb.
The wait staff was proud of the fact that Chef Peter supports all local farmers and he is sitting in a bread basket- he grows his own lettuce and herbs and vegetables and supplements them with local farmers. He works with local dairies and cheese makers and serves local produce and beef. He cuts all of his own protein and insures the quality and consistency. My husbands tenderloin melted in your mouth. At every meal the staff will say oh this butter comes from MacNamara's Dairy or this vegetable comes form this farm. They are all proud of the work of Chef Peter and his accomplishments with the restaurant over the last three years.
Our family joined us for one night and even the children loved the pool, the horses and donkey's in the pasture and the gardens. Truly a great place to visit and to be comfortable and to enjoy the splendor of Chef Peter's cooking.
The wine selections were superb and the pairings with our meal perfect. The cheese board was such a delight with a wonderful variety, house made crostini, fresh honey comb from a local farm and fresh fruit.
Breakfasts were great omelets, house made breads and house made granola with local fresh raw yogurt. The brunches were an unbelievable mix of breakfast or lunch varieties all which were made to perfection.
Chef Peter- more people need to know about your great restaurant, by the way I loved hearing you on the radio, I think it was channel 92.3 FM where you made the lobster and seafood bake- fun and very informative. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
