Dear Ron,

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. You are correct, the view of the lake from Cabin 1 is great, and it is also reassuring to hear that you were able to relax and enjoy all the beauty of Pittsburg from your motorcycle. On behalf of the entire staff at Lopstick, I would like to thank you and your group for choosing to stay with us. As for the rest of this summer, ride safe; we look forward to seeing you again next summer.

Our family drove 4 hours north to Pittsburg for the first time. We are originally from MN but love NH immensely and have since moved out here. We were amazed at the sheer beauty. Some of our goals for the trip were visiting moose alley (saw only one moose) hiking to Garfield Falls (gorgeous) and going out on First Connecticut Lake (great power boat we rented).

I have to say when we arrived the heat was unbearable (in the 90's). There were fans in the cabin but it was still rough. Our cabin was exactly as we had thought; very clean and fully equipped! Fair price as well.

Unfortunately there was then an electrical storm and no power for about 6 hours. No fans or water until midnight. This outage was county wide so I blame Mother Nature on this! Our 2nd day improved 100% once it cooled down. The weather cooperated and we had a blast! The kids loved learning about fly fishing from Greg who is a great teacher and very patient. They also loved the stocked trout pond.

The staff and owners have done a tremendous job and we have decided to come back in the Fall! We have only 2 regrets: We didn't think about how hot it would be in July and thus will likely make future trips in the Fall. We also will get a cabin closer to the water next time. None of this reflects on the owners at all though. I would rate this place a 10 out of 10 for sure!

Room Tip: Closer to the water if you have kids who want to go in the lake. However they need to wear water sho...

Thank you for choosing to share your first experience in Pittsburg with us. As you mentioned this area is beautiful, and we like to think of it as one of the best places on earth. It's also great to hear that your first stay with us met your expectations, and that you are planning a return trip this fall. It is also nice to hear that you were introduced to the sport of fly fishing, which is another great way to enjoy the area.

Until we see you again, have a great summer!

Cabin was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. The area is great and there are a lot of places to hike. We even took a chilly dip in the lake. We had a wonderful stay. The kids LOVED it! Hope to return soon!

This was our first trip to both Lopstick Cabins and to Pittsburg, New Hampshire. We were looking for a remote cabin to get away from the city and all of the fireworks (I suffer from PTSD). The brochure and all of the photos of the cabin (Lucky 7) appeared to be perfect (right on the lake and remote). What we didn't realize was the fact that the cabin is in the middle of several vacation homes that are privately owned. Not to mention that those owners all get together and throw a July 4th party that includes a ton of fireworks...right in front of our cabin! I guess that's what you get when you don't research properly before reserving a place. If you're weren't aware, the First Connecticut Lake in the Pittsburg area is fairly well populated with rental cabins and vacation homes lining the shore.

Aside from the firework party, the neighbors were very friendly even though we were the only renters in their area. The dock that you see in the photos and the brochure for Lucky 7 is one of the neighbors and you cannot use it. Your only access to the water is via a rocky shoreline. You can land a canoe or kayak here but you cannot tie up a motor boat as all of the docks are privately owned.

The cabin itself was very nice and well appointed. The kitchen had all of the necessary tools to prepare a nice meal and all of the cleaning aids as well. The king sized bed was incredibly comfortable even if it was too big for the room. Now my wife wants a new bed at home after sleeping on that one! We also rented a motor boat from Lopstick Cabins for the day and enjoyed the fishing and lounging around the lake. Bob the maintenance guy was very helpful and pleasant. The fire pit is at the rear of the property about 50 yards from the house right next to the road and the neighbor's property. It felt a bit awkward sitting around a fire right next to their large party of about 25 people.

Overall, even with the complete lack of remoteness, we enjoyed the cabin and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Not sure if we will return as the price was rather high and not as remote as we were hoping for. Nonetheless, if you don't mind a pricey cabin and having neighbors nearby, with the added bonus of a convenience store within walking distance and a great ice cream stand next to that, then I would recommend staying at Lopstick Cabins and Lucky 7.

We stayed in the "Riffles" cabin last summer and we LOVED LOVED LOVED it! We are the type of family who enjoys the peace and quiet. We have traveled Moose Alley up and down I can't even tell you how many times. We were surrounded by wild life. My husband and a bear were fishing in the same brook...Husband said one of the "coolest" experiences. The bear also had a run in with my 7yr old. She was excited and scared at the same time. She yelled bear and he ran for it and ran into my husband loading our truck for our departure. I would say maybe a 3yr old bear or so...The loons were awesome, the little river otters were fun to watch in the pond and the brook. The girls played in the stream/brook. We went on the walking trails, climbed a mountain. The best place on vacation and a great cabin. The people who were in the office were wonderful. I would "highly" recommend this place if what is listed above is your type of getaway!!!

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Riffles so much. This is truly a unique cabin, and is one of our most popular cabins. It is often reserved by our other guests for the same reasons you mentioned. I truly enjoyed your "bear" story and would like to thank you for sharing it! This experience is one that I am sure your family will never forget, and I am glad we were able to be a part of it by offering you that cabin. We look forward to seeing you and your family again and thank you for choosing to stay with us.
