My husband and I love to try different restaurants in NH especially when they have such great reviews. In 2010, we tried Veano's I in Pembroke, NH. Sometimes you can tell when a restaurant is good by a full parking lot. This one only had less than 10 cars but we were hungry. Walking in was another fail when it felt like walking into a fast food restaurant with its cheap decor, bright lights and rock music coming out the house speakers.
I was in the mood for Fried Seafood and was happy to see they had a Half-n-Half plate (Fried Scallops/Fried Clams) was on the menu. My husband ordered his favorite Veal Parmesan. The basket of garlic bread arrived with a dot of garlic butter brushed at the center of the slice. Very disappointing! My husband stated his dinner was very good but had to "fight" with the butter knife to cut the veal. The amount of Veal Parm and spaghetti was too much for the type and size plate they served it in also.
Now for the best part. My Half-n-Half Seafood plate was $17.95. I was shocked to see that there was NO lemon slice on the plate. I also noticed that the fried clams were hardly there on the plate. The scallops were great, as well as the Rice Pilaf and Cole Slaw. I was still hungry after dinner and for the first time ever...we ordered dessert. What could go wrong with dessert? Well...when you order a chocolate peanut butter mousse pie that looks delicious on the menu, you expect a "melt in your mouth" mousse, right? That's not what was served. It was frozen on the plate. We had difficulty cutting a piece with the fork!!
We will never go there again! We had better food, service and atmosphere at The Windmill, Olive Garden and Makris!!
