“Great One Night Stay for Story Land Visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2014

Came up with wife and two young boys. Able to check in early and counter staff was very friendly and helpful answering all questions. Room was clean. Wifi worked. Went down to outside pools which the kids loved, water spouts shooting up everywhere and they were super excited that they got to go in the hot tub (no signs that said "16 and over" that we saw!). No lifeguards so be extra vigilant as always. Outside ping pong tables great with plenty of balls and paddles available. Tons of nice brand name retail outlets behind the hotel with a few restaurants, which some people might think is a detraction, but I think it's terrific because it gives the option. At night, they had a sundae party which we stopped by and enjoyed. They also had a movie playing, which we skipped and decided to play movie in own room. DVD player had issues, but we called and the guy came up and fixed it within 10 min. I forgot my toothbrush and someone was up within minutes. Kids had vouchers for breakfast buffet for each paying adult, which was a decent value, tasty enough and convenient before heading out. Checkout was easy/flawless. Nice job.

Room Tip: Close to elevator is good because hallways are a little long.

We are very happy with our choice. The location is great and the hotel is really geared towards families. There are multiple pools, a playground, ice cream parties and movies! It's also near shops and restaurants. We stayed here to visit Santa's Village and Story Land and it was perfect. The whole area is scenic and a fun place to be.

Last year, my wife, 8 month old, and I stayed at this hotel and really was very impressed and surprised. It's our first time in North Conway, and this hotel really made our stay in NH a spectacular one.

That's why this year, when our 20 month old is ready to visit storyland, we didn't hesitate to pick North Conway Grand Hotel again. As expected, this hotel didn't disappoint us. Our stay was another memorable one.

Thank you!

We stayed here as a base for our school ski trip. As a teacher it provides a very good safe base for all your needs. The breakfast food options are very good and the dinner options were plentiful.

The rooms were large although students had to share double beds which wasn't ideal. The pool area is superb with a small jacuzzi and an indoor and outdoor pool.

The retail outlets offer some good bargains and also allow students to do some retail therapy.

Overall a good hotel for a large school group.

Overall, hotel is good for a family with young kids. Nicely located next to outlets. Breakfast buffet is little but food is ok, needs staff that is much more pleasant and service oriented.

Pools are nice and clean with nightly fire near pool. Would have been nicer if staff did smores nightly like at other nearby hotels.

All in all good hotel, go elsewhere for food although food is good, needs more staff and needs to be more pleasant.

Room Tip: Stay away ftom rooms with pop out sofa beds. Not comfy!

The hotel was perfect for our first trip as a family to Storyland. Our 4 year old and 2 year old sons loved the bears, the pools, and the playground. The only reliable meals they ate all week was the breakfast buffet. Also having a DVD player in the hotel room was helpful.

Room Tip: Ask if there are rooms on floors away from children. Our family didn't care because we were lou...

While the North Conway Grand is a nice hotel, what you are paying for proximity to settlers green outlets. While the hotel is literally steps away from the shops, that is about the only thing I enjoyed about this place.
We arrived around midnight and were promptly checked into our room. Th room appeared clean but was very dated. My husband always checks the beds in hotels before we get into them, and thank god he does, because we discovered a very large urine stain on our mattress. The lady working at the front desk was very understanding and quickly arranged for us to be moved into a suite. While this was nice, it was a waste, as we were only there to sleep. I feel that a discount would have been more appropriate. The suite we moved into was also very dated and smelled quite musty as though it hadn't been used in some time. However, it was clean and the bed was comfortable.
We were also given complementary breakfast after the problem with the first room. While this was nice, I'm glad it was free because I would not have paid for it. The waitress who was supposed to seat us was too busy chatting with a co worker to seat us, so a nice gentleman who was working there seated and served us. There was plenty of food to choose from, however it was stone cold. We left hungry and dissatisfied.
A few hours after we checked out I realized that I left something behind in the room. We returned to the hotel and the front desk clerk radioed housekeeping to go look in the room. I took a seat in the lobby and waited about 15 mins and still hadn't heard anything. I returned to the desks to ask if they had any luck finding my item, again the clerk radioed housekeeping and the reply was that they were just going to check. Again I sat down and waited. This time 10 mins passed and I still didn't know if my item was there or not. I returned to the desk where the head of housekeeping was at this time. She said that she did find my lost item and very quickly retrieved it for me.
While I was waiting I saw several people come and go. I saw one couple get checked into room 308 only to call the desk and asked to be switched as it was right across from the elevator. Then another older woman and her grand daughter were checked into 308 and very quickly called to switch rooms. The two girls at the desk were discussing how everyone wanted to switch rooms that day and one of them said "how about if anyone else asks to switch rooms, we'll just tell them that we're full so they can't switch"
Overall the hotel is too dated to be charging over $200/night and needs to make some improvements
