Room wasn’t ready at 4 pm check-in on Sunday. Had to wait until about 4:30. Front desk was reasonably sympathetic and when gently pressed, offered a free breakfast for 2.
We have stayed in the same family suite for 3 years in a row. We stay for 6 nights. I like the room too much to say which one it is. I want to make sure we get it again next summer when we come back. Large bedroom with a king bed and a pullout couch. The bedroom has its own A/C and TV. Very large living area with another pullout couch, two A/C units, a full-sized fridge, full-sized dining table for 4 people, microwave and small sink. The only thing missing are plates, bowls and utensils. We’ve learned to bring our own.
There is plenty of room for clothes with 3 full dressers, an open hanging closet in the bedroom and a hanging closet in the entryway. Bathroom is a bit small, but clean and functional.
The wireless is fine for laptops, but for pads, pods and phones, it’s not a strong connection and often drops. LTE in this area is lightning fast and consumes a data plan in no time. It looks like they’re working on the wireless network infrastructure, which would be good. TV channels are appropriately varied and reliable (ESPN was hit or miss a couple years ago). Now, all channels come in well, many in HD. NESN, Golf, NFL HD, ESPN and several HBO channels for free.
The property is basically connected to a series of shops, which is convenient. Right next door is a pizza/pasta/grill (Brandli’s), which serves as the defacto lunch place if hanging out by the hotel pools, because the on-site restaurant is not open for lunch. Bandli’s delivers to the pool.
The pools are nice. 2 outdoors (1 for the kids) and one indoors. Hot tub inside and out. Lots of kids. There are a bunch of tables with umbrellas, plenty of chairs and an outside gas-fire pit. Very relaxing. The play structures and swings are a big hit with the kids. The area is clean and well-manicured.
No room service at this hotel. We called down for supper and brought it back up to the room one night. Mediterranean pasta was ok. My wife had clam chowder and a haddock sandwich and she said both were good. My daughter got pasta and I asked for an Alfredo and red sauce, both on the side (she can never have too many choices). It came covered in red sauce. She didn’t notice, so was fine with it, but if you’re looking for fine dining, you shouldn’t look here. There are too many other choices nearby.
The DVD player in the bedroom didn’t work. The directions were simple and clear, but no-go. Maintenance came right up and we did some troubleshooting. Finally tried a new DVD player and it worked. Maintenance was attentive and helpful, even after 9pm.
There are laundry facilities for extended stays and a good assortment of gear in the exercise room.
I do love this place, especially for the room we get. The bar is nice. Friendly tenders and nice TVs there. The bar and restaurant are always too warm for me, but I’m told is has to do with the proximity to the front doors, which are automatic and open very often, as the hotel is a large, busy place. Still, I think the lobby/bar/restaurant could have better A/C.
I hate to leave, and am already looking forward to the trip next summer.
