“Beautiful Grounds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2009

We felt that this was a nice hotel. The grounds were beautiful, especially with all the Fall colors. We were not there long enough to really enjoy all that is offered. I think this would be a great place for a family vacation with children.
The restaurant was average. Dinner was not very good at all. The breakfast buffet was good.

Thank you for your review and your kind words about our Resort.

I do need to correct one part of your review. You said you have Dinner at our Resort. We do not, nor ever have offered Dinners at the Fox Ridge Resort. Therefore, I am a little confused about that.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again in the future.

We just arrived home from a mini-getaway with another couple and stayed at the Fox Ridge. We had a quick check-in with a pleasant lady who directed us to our room. Parking is a little inconvenient as it is not directly next to the buildings, but at satellite lots about 300 feet away. The rooms were fine, seemed nice and clean. We went to the outlets for awhile, then returned to use the pool and hot tub. The hot tub had a little floating, swirling scum near the sides, not sure if that is normal but it didn't seem it as the color was a little gray. It was uncrowded and the temperature was good. We didn't end up using the pool, but it was also uncrowded and a good size.
Since there is no restaurant for dinner on-site, we went out to eat. When we returned, and finally got ready for bed, it was close to 1am. We turned the sheets down and my husband climbed in. As I got closer to the bed, I found a hair, which I proceeded to just flick off the bed. Then, I saw another, and when I pulled the sheets down, I noticed that there were many various hairs(all types, if you get my drift) throughout the bedding. It was obvious that the housekeeping neglected to change the bed from the previous habitant. We were both grossed out and wondered what kind of response we would get at 1 am for a sheet change as well as the time investment. We decided to attempt to sleep on the top of the bedspread, which seemed clean. It ended up being a terrible sleep, not sure what we were sleeping on. When we checked out, I told the management how it appeared that the bed had not been changed before out arrival and they quickly offered an apology and a $25.00 credit on my bill.
On a more positive note, the breakfast buffet was wonderful, and very reasonable. I think I would stay here again, but definitely make sure that I check the bed when FIRST arriving at the property. I guess some things you just take for granted, like a clean bed for $130/ per night.

We stayed at the Fox Ridge Resort one night with our tour group. THe grounds were beautiful with autumn colors. THe staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. We had three in our group. All the other hotels we stayed at gave us two beds (double or queen). Our room here had two queen size beds, plus an additional side room with two twin beds. We were very grateful and thought that this hotel went the extra mile for their guest.

We stayed in a moutain view room (top floor) in a family suite which had 2 queen beds and a loft with 2 twin beds. This was good because we have 2 teen boys and a 12 yr. old girl. The room is just okay, somewhat worn out, but clean. The towels are paper thin and you feel like you are in an economy hotel for sure. The beds are very uncomfortable and my husband and I woke up with a back ache.
The town of North Conway is wonderful. Don't miss hiking in Diana's Bath. The path follows gorgeous waterfalls up the mountain. Also be sure to drive up to Cathedral Ledge. Within a minutes walk through the woods you will be overlooking the most incredible expansive view imaginable. Both of these sites are within a few minutes of down town. We love Zeb's general store in the middle of town, and Peaches Restaurant for a great breakfast. If you love pizza don't miss Flatbreads at the Eastern Slope Hotel. They have all natural ingredients and cook the pizza in front of you in a clay oven with wood. AMAZING.
I would recommend skipping Fox Ridge and going up a few doors to their sister hotel, The Red Jacket inn. They have a huge indoor water park (Fun) and big arcade. Looks much nicer.

Thank you for reviewing the Fox Ridge Resort and for pointing out some of our local attractions...........For those of our guests who do not wish to enjoy our Kahuna Laguna water park, the Fox Ridge has always served as a worthy alternative. May we remind all readers, that a stay at the Fox Ridge comes with full privileges to the Kahuna Laguna (and all other amenities) at the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort & Spa.............Finally, we hope any difficulties you encountered with your accommodations were brought to the attention of our staff during your stay so that they could have resolved them for you.

A group of friends on a roadtrip - seven of us - booked this place before we arrived in New England and couldn't believe the low price. Since it was off season, just before the leaves turned, the rooms were amazingly cheap! We couldn't believe the price so were well prepared for something downmarket....and were pleasantly surprised.

This is definitely a family resort, with good swimming pool (with a deep end!), hot tub and mini golf. If you want the waterpark however, you'll have to go to the other Red Jacket Resort in North Conway.

Rooms were clean, spacious and staff were courteous. Location was excellent, however anything in North Conway is close by. Thumbs up.

We especially enjoy hearing from our International guests - thank you for your review. A brief reminder to those that may stay at the Fox Ridge Resort - Guests staying there have full access to the Kahuna Laguna water park at the same rates as guests of the Red Jacket Mountain View. During the Summer months we even offer a free shuttle between resorts (which are only 1/2 mile apart). Please visit again the next time you travel "across the pond".

First the good. All of the people at the resort were very friendly and courteous. The grounds were well maintained with lots of beautiful flowers. It appears to be OK for families with small children. They have a playground and mini golf, although the mini golf is really lame. Overall the resort looks like it is very old, but well maintained.

We has a room with a kingsize bed. It was adequate, but for the price I had expected much better. The bathorrom was very small and the sink was outsideof the bathroom. There were shelves for towels by the sink but no towel rack. There was a small table in the room but the lights were nowhere near the table so if you wanted to read there you had to open the curtains to get enough light, assuming it was daytime. The floor boards in the room above us creaked when people were walking around. 2 of the days we stayed there were children in the room above us and they were running around a lot.

They advertise a heated indoor pool, but it was not heated. It was actually pretty cold. The pool and the whirlpool were pretty dirty looking but appeared to have adequate sanitizer (chlorine?). It was a little too cool to take advantage of the outdoor pool but the paint was peeling in the pool anyway.

They also advertise tennis courts which we had planned on using. There are 3 courts, well down the hill from the rooms. All 3 of the courts had big cracks in them. 2 of them did not have a net and grass groing out of the cracks. Obviously they had not been ised in a very long time. Besides the cracks in the one that did have a net there was dirt, pine needles, and leaves all over the court.

We stayed 4 nights and pre-paid for breakfasts. 2 of the days we were able to order from the menu and the other 2 days they had a buffet. Overall the breakfasts were pretty good, but all of the items in the buffet on Sunday were cold.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent stay. I see there was some items you liked and some items that did not meet your expectations.

The indoor pool is heated to 82 degreesand is our most used amenity, something that is very important to us. We receive numerous reviews on it's outstanding condition and cleanliness.

This year because of a drop in demand for tennis we opted to close two of the three tennis courts and will be removing them this winter. The one open court is is surrounded by tall pines and oak trees and in the fall we must make a better effort to keep it clear.

We have a simple nine hole mini-golf course, kids love it and the price is right, it is free and very popular.

The Fox Ridge was built in 1979, surrounded by 30 acres of forest and lawns it offers a unique setting for a hotel in North Conway. We have an on going program in place for renovations and improvements. This year we totally renovated all hallways and entrances.

We plan on maintaining our reputaion for hospitality for many years to come.
