My husband and I decided to go to NH to see some snow during the Christmas break and found the Red Elephant online. Tana and Nelson were wonderful innkeepers and made our stay warm and memorable. We stayed in the East Asia room, which was a warm oasis from the cold. The fireplace was so awesome and with the heated floors, it never felt cold even though we were from Florida. The breakfast was imaginative, so filling, and everyone had a good time - we met many other guests and all were enjoying themselves. The included tea and cocoa area (with fresh cookies) was very welcome when coming back from a cold day on the slopes. The Village is nearby and offered many neat places to eat dinner. Tana and Nelson were always available to discuss places to eat and make us reservations so we never were waiting. We have traveled extensively and stayed at many upscale places and this held its own. For a romantic getaway where you can do a lot or a little, this was a perfect 10!

We stayed in the South East Asian Room in early January 2008. The pictures online are deceptive, the room was huge! The gas fireplace was great, and there was a huge 2 person jacuzzi tub.
The first morning, we had bananas with honey, a sweet potato muffin, a huge sausage, and a really good ham and cheese quiche. The next morning we were served peaches, bacon, and french toast. The servings were huge. There was a kitchen that guests are allowed to get any beverages they want (tons of tea, hot chocolate options, along with bottled water). They also have a large movie collection, in case you'd rather stay in for the night.
The decor was great, I loved how every room had fantastic pictures and decorations.
There were a few things that may affect future guests. They do have pets there, 2 cats and a dog. They are friendly and well behaved, but I guess if you don't like pets or are allergic, it might make a difference. Also, there was no maid service during the day. For us, it just let us sort of explode in the room and not worry about it. But I suppose if a person really wanted someone to hang up their towels and make their bed, this may not be the place.
All in all, we really enjoyed the room, and thought it was well priced.

“This is a must-stay B&B.”

This is a truly unique B&B. You will see what I mean when you arrive there. It is also good at all the essentials, and is very warm and cosy. The breakfasts are, in keeping with the rest of the place, unique and more importantly very tasty - the coconut crumble was quality, as were the blueberry pancakes.

If you go to North Conway, then stay here, you won't go wrong.

“Wonderful Weekend Getaway”

Red Elephant Inn Bed & Breakfast

My husband and I booked a room at the last minute a few weekends ago in order to get in some end of the season skiing at Attitash. The skiing was awful, but the inn more than made up for it. Cozy and comfortable, eclectic decor, walking distance to shops, restaurants and town. The innkeepers were so friendly and interested in learning about their guests. They were also quite helpful with advice on the ski conditions at the local mountains, which ones were more likely to be worth our time and money, places to go in town and restaurants to eat at. The breakfasts were delicious and kept you fueled for more than half the day. A great selection of DVD's and VHS tapes were available to all guests as well as a little mini kitchen with all the things you might need for an afternoon or evening snack- my husband loved being able to make himself a cup of tea and have some delicious cookies before bed. We had a really lovely time here and highly recommend the inn to all.
