“Great vacation spot for families”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2014

This review is coming off of our second stay at this hotel. It turns out that our kids loved it so much that whenever we asked them where they wanted to go on vacation they say Red Jacket Mountain View (or really the awesome hotel with the water slides). We stayed in one of their loft suites which was perfect for my husband and 2 kids. The kids essentially got their own room with TV when they stayed in the loft. The hotel is very clean with a very helpful staff. The only complaint I have is that the bed mattresses could be more comfortable. There were a few nights it took awhile for us to get to sleep.

Their buffet breakfast is very good and offered a very wide selection including omelet station and Belgium waffles. The water slides inside the hotel are clean and not crowded at all...we spend a whole day there on one of the rainy days of our trip. Also there is a great ice cream shop just across the street from the hotel. Getting the coupon book from Breathe NH was key to saving money at the water slides and Storyland. If you are planning a trip to North Conway this hotel is highly recommended.

Kritic8,

Thank you very much for taking the time to let us know about your 2nd visit to The Red Jacket Mountain View. We really like hearing that your children always want to go "really the awesome hotel with the water slides". Maybe we will have to considering hiring them to be part of our marketing team. We are glad that you enjoyed the loft room and we apologize for not being able to get a good nights sleep on one of the mattress's. Hope you enjoy the rest of your summer and we look forward to seeing you back for your third visit. Please tell your children to ask for Keeko when you return as he has a special gift for them.

Regards,

Jon and The Red Jacket Team

Visited on the fly, but only the $280.00 rooms were available. Went to the outdoor pool for lunch. The resort and grounds are neat and clean and the pool water was bath temperature-yay! They only had 1 person serving lunch outside for 40+ people so she was extremely busy. The server Amanda suggested with a correct, pleasant attitude to save time by going inside to the grill area and order lunch there bring it outside. I had a well prepared chicken Caesar salad and a strawberry daiquiri made quickly and had an excellent lunch at poolside. Would definitely return!

Room Tip: All rooms I have been in have been satisfactory.

littlebob4u,

Thank you for taking the time to highlight your recent stay. We appreciate mentioning Amanda specifically as we have been very lucky to have her on our team. Caesar Salad and Strawberry Daiquiri sounds like a perfect summer lunch and for the matter a perfect winter lunch in Kahuna Laguna. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

As you arrive to the Red Jacket Mountain View on a late summer afternoon with your carload of overstimulated children, you realize immediately that you've come to the right place. The whole hotel is filled with families like you - glassy eyed parents juggling duffel bags of stuffed animals, juice boxes, and teddy grahams while their children, adorned in face paint and Storyland swag, race through the lobby like wild, undisciplined jungle creatures. The Red Jacket has seen it all before, and they're ready for you with a daily curated children's program, arcade room, popsicles at the pool, and a ready change of sheets for your kid's bed as soon as you need it. The pool is perfect for small children who aren't completely pool safe, with lots of steps and shallow areas, and a warm temperature. The rooms, while somewhat expensive, are not grand, and the restaurant isn't the best food you'll find - but the staff is terrific, the views are beautiful, and your kids will have the time of their lives. You might even luck out with a nice cool quiet nap in the room (assuming your hotel neighbors' children are at the pool!). Just knowing that "family is king" at the Red Jacket, that your children's antics will be patiently tolerated and understood, and that the staff and guests all empathize with your quiet suffering through the plight of a theme-park vacation in high summer, makes the whole experience oddly comforting, and seamlessly pleasant. Until your kid spills red cherry slushee all over your bed. But then, the Red Jacket will take care of that too! We'll be back next summer.

Room Tip: Ask for Mountain View - the Garden View is mainly looking out over the pool or the back of the Water...

KGKat,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review about your recent stay. We all enjoyed reading your review in our weekly managers meeting. You were so eloquent with your description and highlighted why our entire team enjoys coming to work on a daily basis. It is so enjoyable to watch the story land rush in the morning, with everyone having so much energy. Then the return in the afternoon offers a different flavor, sometimes tired children, sometimes sugar overload and all of the time tired parents and or grand parents. Thank you once again and enjoy the rest of your summer.

Jon and The Red Jacket Team

Great staff, adequate rooms, indoor water park is great and outdoor pool is heated and a good size so not too crowded. The buffet bfasts and dinners were good, didn't have to leave the facility other than for day trips to places like Story Land. Would come again for a night or 2.

Spent two nights here and can recommend the hotel. All other guests appeared to be families: this did not bother us as we knew this to be the case. The hotel has an onsite waterpark which is obviously a huge family attraction.
The first room offered to us was on the ground floor overlooking the carpark. It had a small terrace which was completely overshadowed by a huge tree. This made the room very dark. I returned to reception and complained. The lady on duty was extremely professional and explained that she thought the hotel was full. However she took time to trawl the computer before offering us a new room on the second floor. We were delighted with the new room which had amazing views of the front lawn with the a White Mountains in the distance. A feature four poster and an inviting jacuzzi was the icing on the cake.
The hotel is just an easy walk to the shops of North Conway and the village centre. There is a guest laundry on site.
The staff were delightful, without exception, I would certainly recommend and stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for a front facing room on the second floor.

The hotel is really nice. The room was clean. We had purchased a combo pack with the waterpark. It got mixed up when we got there. The hotel management was very nice and tried to rectify the issue. We had room service and the food was excellent.

Kahuna Laguna is not for little kids. My 3 year old had fun on the 3 toddler slides, but that was about it. There is a 42 or 48 height limit for the other slides. It was very clean though. I would recommend it for 5 and up! We will go back again when she is older!

We have visited North Conway a few times through the years but had been away for about 5 years. In the past we stayed at another hotel but my kids love water parks so we decided to go to Red Jacket. We also chose the Red Jacket resort based on Trip Advisor reviews. The staff was wonderful in every interaction. The front desk staff, dining room staff, Kahuna Laguna staff and the cleaning staff were friendly and very helpful. Our room was a bunk bed room, with 2 full sized beds and a set of bunk beds in an alcove. This worked out perfectly for my kids who bicker too much to share a full size bed. They also had a sliding door to separate our space from theirs. We had a pretty and a balcony.

We ate most meals in the resort. We had the buffets at breakfast and dinner. Both meals were very good. The dinner buffet has a different theme each night. The breakfast buffet was the same each day. My husband especially enjoyed the breakfast buffet because they have freshly made belgian waffles and omelets by order. My kids enjoyed the french toast and french toast sticks. The mountain view in the dining room is beautiful.

My kids loved the water park. The cost was not included in the price of out room. It was an additional $20 for swimmers and $10 for spectators. The park is like Coco Keyes only smaller, which I appreciated. My kids rode the water slides but mostly stayed in the wave pool. We went to the water park later in the day - after 7pm and stayed until closing (10pm). I just wish they had more lounge chairs because there were just no enough for everyone and most people didn't seem to want to sit in the regular chairs.

Overall, we had an enjoyable trip and will return for longer next time.

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain view with balcony.
