4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2010

I stayed at the Briarcliff Motel this weekend for my 5th time and it's the only place I have ever stayed in while visiting North Conway. It's located right next to the Up Country Family Restaurant and is convenient walking distance to the Muddy Moose. The Red Jacket is right across the road, but you get to see the same mountains for a $100 less money at Briarcliffs. The staff is friendly and you get the feel of a family run business. They even give you recommendations and discount coupons to local restaurants. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. You will have no problems staying at Briarcliff.

Colorful decor-like a B&B. Friendly staff, free internet, good location. Really comfortable bed. Great price for a roadside motel, Bath and room are small but very clean.

Briarcliff is a vintage tourist court which has been carefully updated. It was evident that the management takes great pride in making sure that everything is in near perfect order and guests feel comfortable. We were greeted with a warm welcome and fresh coffee. Our room was large with an enclosed porch facing the mountain range which was absolutely perfect. The bath was small, but considering the cleanliness that did not present any problem for us. WiFi was a plus. The front porch had a park bench by each room and gorgeous flowering hanging baskets. Thanks for a wonderful stay, Ela! We highly recommend Briarcliff.

All I can say is that Trip Advisor is unbeatable for unbiased reviews of hotel and motel properties. We selected the Briarcliff Motel from among nearly a dozen properties in the area based in large part on the reviews that I found in Trip Advisor. We paid $99/nite on June 23, 2009 and felt that we got a very good value for the price compared to the numerous other properties that I had contacted. This property is located along the main route and is within a short driving distance to shopping and attractions. The property is a vintage motor court that has been lovingly maintained and updated by the owners. Vehicle parking is well off the street. While our particular room was somewhat compact, (maybe "cozy" is a better word), it was more than adequate for two adults. The room was VERY neat, VERY clean, and well maintained. "Neat-as-a-pin" is how I would describe it. The decor was very pleasant, tastefully done, and appeared fairly new. The carpeting appeared to be very new. The furnishings and furniture were in very good condition. The room and the linens smelled fresh and looked new. Although the bathroom with it's vintage tile walls was mostly original, it was very clean, very neat, and meticulously maintained and featured all new fixtures. I've never seen a motel bathroom of that era that was so clean and so well maintained. The bathroom was good size for two people and was well stocked with supplies and clean fresh towels that had been very carefully arranged. The room featured a king bed, a microwave, and a dorm fridge. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and very accommodating when we had to change our original reservations due to a number of last-minute travel schedule conflicts. We stayed there one night and it was quiet. The rear of our room had a very nice view of the mountains. The only real "surprise" we had during our stay there was when we discovered the porch (balcony) area on the rear of our room. When we walked out on the porch and discovered how peaceful and quiet it was with birds singing and the beautiful mountain views, it truly was was one of those "WOW!" moments. That was a real bonus that we weren't expecting. My wife stayed out on the porch for hours after dinner and didn't want to come inside to sleep. Despite this property being a vintage motor court, it's truly remarkable to find a property like this that's been so well "preserved" into the 21st Century. We have a real fondness for vintage motor courts from the 1950's and '60's, except when they're run down and clearly have seen better days. That's not the Briarcliff. The Briarcliff clearly is a shining example of owners who are very dedicated to investing considerable time and money to maintain and upgrade their property. The overall condition is just amazing. I've stayed in more vintage motor courts than I can remember and rarely do I find one that's as well "preserved" as this one. To be honest, we're very particular about our hotel and motel accomodations. Probably more particular than most people. But we found no real fault with our stay there and we'd stay at the Briarcliff again without any hesitation. Although there's no shortage of accommodations in the area, you can certainly pay a lot more for a whole lot less someplace else. If you're looking for quality accommodations at a fair price, I recommend the Briarcliff. BTW, while we were in North Conway, we ate at Brandli's Pizza located in the nearby Outlet Center based on a recommendation from the Briarcliff staff. All I can say is, if you want real pizza, then try Brandli's. Who'd of thought you could find real pizza in North Conway, NH? Enjoy!

The Briarcliff was a great find. It's run by a family that takes pride in their property and go to great lengths to make you feel at home.

The rooms are clean, well decorated, with nice beds and sheets. The pool is clean, safe and heated. All this for a great price.

The next time we're in North Conway we will be sure to stay there.
