“Good Bang For The Buck”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

We recently stayed at Stonehurst Manor in No. Conway, NH on a package that included breakfast and dinner. When you deduct for the cost of the meals it was like staying here for $60 a night! The food was as advertised by other members of our extended family: out of this world! The service was superb with everyone we encountered being extremely courteous and helpful. We attended a wedding on Saturday on the grounds and, again, everything was perfect. I don't know how they got the weather to clear an hour before the ceremony and how they managed to hold off the rain until everything was over, but I give them credit for that too!

The Stonehurst is a quaint and beautiful manor setting. If you enjoy staying in an older style hotel, you would like this, as you would be prepared for creaking beds, low ceilings, squishy mattresses and dim lighting. The pool is in a lovely location and the gardens are well appointed. Our favorite part of the stay was dinner in their very fine restaurant. The food was excellent as well as the professional wait staff who attended us (thanks Lauren) The view from the Manor is stunning from the adirondack chairs and the pool. Breakfast was yummy but the amount of wait staff to serve all of us who appeared at the same time that morning was a bit understaffed.

Room Tip: The third floor in the Manor itself is definitely not for those who find narrow stairs and carrying...

That is actually one of our many wonderful qualities is being so close to everything the Mt. Washington Valley has to offer but quite and distant enough to help relax and get away from it all.

This is a beautiful, small hotel. I stayed in room 32B. It was exquisite.
Excellent meals, ability to light the fireplace and sleep in a four poster bed.
I have stayed here in the past... 4 different times. The staff is friendly, helpful, and sitting by the huge fireplace in the library with coffee in the morning, or wine in the evening, is just the best.
I highly recommend this stay. I would only stay in the main house, not the motel section.

Room Tip: I loved room 32 B Stairs are steep to the third floor.

My wife and I as well as our friends who were with us have, over the years, travelled extensively around the world. Our first trip to New Hampshire and North Conway will remain in the top ten percentile of memorable places we've visited. The location and the history of Stonehurst Manor are equaled if not surpassed by the warmth of its staff. From the welcome when we first arrived to the goodbye, hope to see you again, when we left, one could feel that warmth and sincerity of the staff. The room was quite nice for our two nights. The breakfasts and dinners were excellent and too generous, so tasty that one felt compelled to finish to the last bite...think about smaller portions. Dining room staff and bartender provided excellent service. Keep up the excellent work!

Room Tip: Make sure you have a virtual visit of the rooms before selecting.

We stayed at the Manor with another couple and had a fabulous time. We have been coming here since 1997. We stayed 4 nights, hiked during the morning, and shopped or lounged by the pool in the afternoon. Although maybe not perfect (beds a little soft, floors a little creaky), we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the food to be excellent. We thought it was a great value - particularly after staying a few days in NYC.

Room Tip: We find the Mountain View wing, upper level to be the best value.

The grounds of this property are beautifully kept. The gardens are just gorgeous! The lobby area and dining rooms are lovely too. We stayed in the motel section of the main house, on the second floor. (Room 7.) Upon opening our door for the first time, we were greeted with a fairly strong chemical/stale odor. I wondered if maybe the room had been a smoking room and they were trying to cover up that smell. But the whole compound is non-smoking. The room seemed to have been freshly painted. But--The carpet was shabby and needed to be replaced. Most disturbing of all, the bedding, while exactly what was pictured on the website, proved to be very limp and worn. I ran my hand over the bottom sheet and it felt as if cinders had been sprinkled under it. This turned out to have been a mattress pad that was so badly pilled that the hard little pills were easily felt through the sheet! This sounds like a Princess and the Pea story, but it is true! The blanket was badly worn and threadbare, actually. We were celebrating a milestone anniversary and I was so depressed over our room that I was in tears. On the good side, though, the restaurant was superb. My husband had the best prime rib he'd tasted in years. The restaurant staff were very professional. The package price, with dinner and breakfast included, was very reasonable. They just need to fix up the odor, the carpet, and that awful bedding!
