We usually travel with our two dogs- both labs- and have to spend a lot of time researching places to stay. A lot of properties say they are "pet-friendly" or "pets welcome", but that means different things to different innkeepers. At the Spruce Moose, your pets are as welcome as you are! We were greeted by the resident pooches Whitman and Lilly when we arrived, and Nellie and Leon were equally as welcoming.
We stayed in the Smith Cottage, which has a beautiful gas fireplace. It was very quaint and cozy, and roomy enough for us all to feel comfortable in. The inn is located on a quiet street, but still very close to downtown North Conway and the shops and restaurants (it rained on and off the entire weekend so we drove everywhere, but if the weather was nicer, we'd have left our vehicle and walked downtown for dinner).
The Spruce Moose is also located close to ski areas and a half hour from the White Mountain National Forest, so outdoor activities are within a short drive. We look forward to coming back in the fall to enjoy the foliage, and to saying hi to Whitman and Lilly again!

After having found out that our reservation in another B&B hadn´t been taken into account, we asked for another BB in the village and we were recommended the Spruce Moose.

They were not still open for the season, but yet offered us a big cottage by the same rate as a smaller one. I must say that everything was very clean and settled anyway. These cottages are perfect for families to explore the area. The kitchen had everything and the lodge was very confortable.

But the nicest thing was that the innkeepers were so extraordinary helpful and friendly. Thank you so much!

We have stayed in one of the cottages several times now and just love it. Nellie and Leon and their two dogs are all terrific - always make us feel very welcome! The place is very well run. You can walk to to downtown North Conway and it's 2 minutes from Cranmore - and yet is quiet. Our dog, Kona, comes with us and loves exploring the property. We really lucked out finding this place. We've been going for the skiing and now want to go back for the hiking!

This is our second time at Spruce Moose, last year we took family there visitng from the UK on a skip trip. I asked them this year what would they like to do on this vacation - New York, Vegas?? - no just stay at the Spruce Moose and go to Zebs. They make the most mouthwatering breakfast, a log fire is lit for you and rooms are comfy, unique and warm. If you especially like antique farmhouses and their charm this is the place for you. If you are coming from Europe stay here to get the full blown American hospitality, real American breakfast expertly cooked up by Leon, big smiles and a warm, warm welcome, openness and sincere warmth. We left feeling like family. The inn is a wonderful place, the dogs are great, the rooms and baths might not be huge but charming and each one is slightly different. The location is great - just a 5-10 minute stroll to the main road where all the restaurants, shops and cafes are. We arrived too late for the foliage but still had a great time. Our two children aged 9 and 12 said this was the best part of our 9 days in New England.
