“Terrible Experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014

Stayed at many hotels in the North Conway area and by far this was the worse experience. The rooms were small, staff was rude and they ran out of coffee and breakfast at 830. For $215 a night I at least expect a cup of coffee. At least they were nice enough to put out stale cookies for 6 year old - who happened together sick so that makes sense. If you are looking for a nice wintery New Hampshire experience I would not suggest staying at the White Mountain Hotel.

Winter Wonderland Great winter views. Great attentive caring staff. Loved sitting by the warm rip roaring stone fireplace. We sat there with our drinks when Russell the bartender came out and asked if we would like to see a menu. We were served like royalty a tasty winter meal.. AND THIS WAS OUR 17TH Wedding Anniversary. Making a memory to cherish!!!

The rooms are CLEAN if your looking for new NO they are worn but so clean.... The beds are very comfortable and the views from the window is perfect. I prefer a mountain view room to a ledges view. If you want an extremely well priced (actually a bargain) then you have found it here.. Clean and cheery goes a long way for my pocketbook... The pool is 97 degrees and outside, don't let that throw you it is a wonderful fun time.....Hot tub too. The fresh air and great view make the dip in the outside pool a blast! (even for us 40- somethings).

The staff were so on the ball.. If Anthony M. from Hotel Impossible was visiting I think he would give it 4 stars..

Believe me I read almost every resort, hotel, and b&b review for North Conway in trip advisor before choosing this hotel.... I did my homework.!!! and I would say it was all worth it!!

Thank you to a wonderful staff and a great stay.. You all made our 17th Anniversary so much fun..

Room Tip: I prefer the mountain view rooms...

Happy 17th Anniversary and thank you for choosing to spend it with us. I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay, your dining experience in Ledges, and the outdoor heated pool and Jacuzzi.
It really is special to be out in the pool in the winter. You made my day with the Hotel Impossible comment, as I am a big fan of the show. Thanks, Carol

Winter Wonderland with Stunning views of the Ledges, Nothing makes you feel more welcome, than the wonderful greeting from staff upon our arrival. Loved sitting by the beautiful fireplace, with our friends enjoying cocktails before dinner in Ledges, which was delicious.
How cool being able to swim outside at night ( Feb.) it was so amazing we did it Fri. and Sat.
The location is Breathtaking, we went snow shoeing right out the front door, thru the golf coarse to Echo Lake.
We enjoy the "Tuckermans beer night" and our friend was the big Winner of a snowboard give away.
It was a great stay for us again and we were able to share it with our friends, who also had a terrific time. We can not wait to return.

My family went to NH to ski. Most area hotels require a two night stay so we were happy to find that the WMH&R allowed a single night booking. Arrived and greeted by the nicest, front desk staff, a roaring fire in the huge fireplace, fresh baked cookies, cocoa, and coffee - it truly was a perfect, warm welcome on a chilly day. The bar is lively and welcoming. The rooms aren't huge, but they're clean and functional. But there is so much going on, do you really want to stay in your room. We went swimming in the 92 degrees heated pool on a 20 degree day - the kids loved this, actually we all did and we had a lot of laughs. They have a fire pit every night and smores kits available for purchase. Lots of people just hang round by the fire, the pool, game room, you feel like you are staying at friends and family, not a hotel. The restaurant is great, albeit a bit pricey, but staff are super nice and they have a someone playing piano. Scenery is beautiful. It truly is the little things here! Maybe the only negative is that the room got super hot @ night, maybe that was something we could control, never really figured that out. Thank you WMH&R, we'll be back.

This resort welcomed us and made us feel right at home! The breakfasts and dinners are very appetizing as well as the view from the dining room. The rooms are also very good sized. They are centrally located between Cranmore and Attitash. We are definitely planning on going back again

Location:
A bit off the beaten path but only about a 15 minute drive from Glen and Bartlett; even shorter drive to the stores in North Conway. It's up on a hill so very private, even though you have to drive through a community of homes to get to it.

Amenities:
There is a heated pool and a jacuzzi outside but both are open year round. It was actually snowing out while we were in the jacuzzi but it was nice and warm in the tub! There is also a decent sized workout room and massages are offered for a fee. My husband and I signed up for a 90 minute couples massage. It was expensive but very relaxing. The masseuses were really nice. The hotel is also on a golf course but we were there in winter so no golfing for us. In the lobby, there is a large wood burning fireplace with some chairs around it to sit back and relax with a book. However, being right in the lobby it's not as quiet as I would have liked.

Dining:
There is a tavern with lots of oversized seating as well as a large bar area. It's a very nice space with plenty of room to fit a crowd. There is a television (kind of small but there is one...) that comes in handy when there is a can't-miss game on. Attached to the bar is a dining room that serves breakfast and supper year round and lunch Spring through Fall. The dining room does have a dress code so be sure to review the website prior to leaving home to ensure you will be able to get in. It's resort casual, so not too formal. The same menu is available in both the tavern and the dining room. All the food we ordered was very good, no complaints.

The Room:
The room is pretty standard. Ours had one queen bed and one full bath. There was a television, a fridge, plenty of drawers to store clothing, and a closet for clothes and jackets. They also supplied an ironing board and a hair dryer. Overall the room was fine...maybe a tad bit small. The bed would be very comfortable for someone who likes a softer mattress; however, we enjoy a firmer mattress so after two nights our lower backs were pretty achy. Also, there were plenty of pillows but they were small, not full sized. That was a little weird. They do have suites but we didn't have a chance to look through one before we left.

We love the location of the hotel and the food. We had dinner on Saturday evening and the food was excellent. We also had the brunch on Sunday morning and was one of the best we've ever had. The only complaint I have is that our room was at the front of the hotel and the kitchen fans were below us. I realized afterwards that this was also a complaint from a previous post. I guess the only way to get around it is to book the rooms on the ledge side.
