“Not a hole in the wall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Although it looks like anything but a promising site for a good Mexican restaurant, it is. Tucked in a small plaza off busy 101A, it has a convenient, if not scenic, location. The food is solid Mexican fare (from someone who's lived in the Southwest and has eaten and made Mexican food for years). The menu offerings are pretty standard fare, but all are solidly prepared. We've eaten there half a dozen times, and have never been disappointed with any of the dishes we've ordered. It's gotten a lot busier lately, and that speaks to its success. There was a definite need for a good Mexican restaurant in this area.

“Excellent fast and authentic Mexican lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

Literally just left there to log in and review. Wow. You could miss the location. I'm down in the Nashua and Merrimack area for a week long training so it was time to find something different for lunch. Very happy to have found this. I got the #12 lunch combo which was basically one corn and one flour enchiladas with an authentic mole. Normally, I will drown a tex-mex steam table rice in salsa and sour cream and you still end up with crunchy kernels. Not here at El Tapatio. The rice was fresh, fluffy, with a wonderfully subtle aroma and flavor. Very tasty. The complementary salsa and chips were also well prepared. A bit of kick, but not hot. I added an ala carte chile relleno to my lunch which was also delicious with a mild cheese ooozing out of it and covered in a fresh and tasty salsa verde. I found it overall to be very fast service, freshly made, and a good value.

“Best in New Hampshire”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

El Tapatio is the best Tex-Mex I've had in New Hampshire. If you find yourself complaining that there's no good Mexican food in New England, check this place out. I had the Mole Ranchero with fresh guacamole. I'll definitely be going back.

“Authentico Restaurante de Gaudalajara Experiencia en Merrimack, Fantastico!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

Forty years ago my wife and I spent a summer wandering around Mexico, traveling the back roads, experiencing real Mexico. We fell in love with the rich culture and the people of the various regions, visiting the "tourist" areas, but preferring to experience that which the local people enjoyed, especially the taverns and restaurants, where there is a celebration of happiness and joy of being. Upon entering El Tapatio one is instantly "teleported" to Gaudalajara, the decor and the staff, the ambiance, it is real Mexico, real Gaudalajara. This is a great experience, somewhat like taking a mini-vacation, get out of your car, walk through the door, and there you are, transported to the capital city in the state of Jalisco. As to the food, when I dine here every one of my senses tell me that I must be in Gaudalajara. This is a real deal! I have tried just about everything on their menu and am in love with their ability to do well with all of the items. Bottom line is that going to this restaurant is somewhat like getting a quick "Mexico fix", essentially you get to "travel" to Mexico without having to use any vacation time, and without having to get in an airplane! For those that have not been to Mexico, be warned that a visit to this restaurant will cause you to want to schedule a trip to Mexico as soon as possible.

“Yum!”

This is my favorite local Mexican place. Authentic food and nice service. Usually service is fast. Not in favor of their frozen drinks but they have a decent beer selection.
