El Tapatio is one of very few restaurants in the area that offers authentic Mexican cuisine. While many locals think that Mexican food is defined by “sizzling fajitas” or overzealous cooks dumping cheese on its food; it’s hardly Mexican. One great way to judge a Mexican restaurant is to see what it does with pork. The extensive menu features a few dishes with pork and they are absolutely delicious. My wife thoroughly enjoyed a chicken dishes with an excellent mole sauce. Mole sauce is certainly another true Mexican standard. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and very clean while staff is courteous and prompt.
Let’s hope that this restaurant does not go “Tex Mex” like Shorty’s, Margarita’s and La Carreta.
