“horrible rehearsal dinner”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2008

i booked lago for my rehearsal dinner. When booking, we set the number at 50 people. Upon arriving there, we saw that they had only set up for 38 and we had to seat 6 people (including 2 very small children) at one of the bar high tops because they informed us VERY rudely that they couldn't do anything about it. That consumed about a hour of our dinner, simply trying to make everyone comfortable and get everyone a seat. After that finally got worked out, a person attending our rehearsal was walking by the hostess stand and overheard the manager and a hostess telling people asking for a table that the reason that they dont have a table for them is because the wedding party gave them the wrong number of people and messed everything up. The female manager was rude and all around awful to deal with. The only thing that made it any better was our waiter. I do not recommend this restaurant for a function as they have no idea about customer service. They completely ruined our rehearsal dinner.

“Mediocre”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2008

Nice location with great view of Meredith Bay, especially from the porch room. Popular, busy place where you can take your kids. Faux-Italian food and decor. Service efficient and friendly when we were there. Lots of pasta choices, also meat and seafood. Good-sized portions and moderate prices. We found the food to be quite bland and nothing special, but not terrible either. Not worth going out of your way for. Seems they use the cheapest ingredients they can get. They do a booming tourist business. I think because of the location.

“all 'round wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2007

The atmosphere is maybe "rustic-Italian" - dark, lots of wood beams and candles - romantic, but comfortable, not stuffy. We had a table by the windows overlooking the water - just beautiful. The food was delicious - all 5 of us chose the scallop risotto special and were not dissapointed. Our waitress was attentive and very helpful, especially when it came to choosing some nice wine for our meal. Great experience -would definitely return when in the area.

“Best Swordfish I Ever Had”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2005

I just dined at Lago. It was one of the best dinners I have had in quite a while. We ate on the outdoor patio basking in the sunlight watching all the boats in the bay. We had an order of homemade pasta that was with pesto. Apparently they have a lost Italian national trying to make his way home to Italy who is making fresh pasta for them. He's doing a good job, it was out of this world! Then we both had the swordfish. Cooked through but not dry with a relish of tomaoes, feta cheese, black olives and olive oil. Best ever. We skipped dessert but they brought us some Limoncello to end our meal. The whole experience was over the top. We'll be back!
