This was my first stay at a Radisson and the only reason I had picked it was because I was in town for a concert and the venue was directly across the street. Which was by far the best part of my stay. Not everything was bad, but it wasn’t as I expected, from previous things I had heard about Radisson. We arrived in Manchester and after contacting the hotel, the shuttle arrived about 10min later. The driver was extremely friendly both when picking us up and dropping myself back off at the airport 2 days later. I liked that I was able to schedule a time for the shuttle to be ready for me when it was time to go back to the airport, instead of having the wait and hope that someone else was not using it. They where more then understanding and joked with me when I was running late that morning and had them waiting for about 10min. Upon arrival the first thing I noticed was the beautiful lobby. The front desk guy was very friendly and check in went super fast. I had checked in online the night before, but it was my first time using online check in, I really didn’t expect it to go that fast. We where given a room about 5 floors up but the first thing I noticed, was that the room was not what we had requested. We asked for two queen size beds, in just a standard guestroom. Instead we where given one king size bed in a “executive room”. We where so tired it was not really worth it to say anything to them and switch rooms. We had a great view, but it would not have been worth it if they had charged us more money as they are supposed to for that view (they charged a normal rate). There where only two of us so I just crashed on the sofa and it was not that big a deal about the bed. However I did have a hard time sleeping as the heating system was rather loud, it kept going on and off making a rather loud noise. The fact that it was like clockwork made it harder to sleep. The room was an ok size, however they seem to be trying to cram too much furniture that does not fit into such a small area. In the room there was a basic television on a huge armoire. A king sized bed, soda, coffee table, two end tables, and a rather large desk. It just didn’t make sense, everything was touching each other and just looked bad. The soda was supposed to be a sofa sleeper, though there would not have been room to use the bed part. All the furniture was pretty basic, nothing special. The bathroom was also very basic, something you would expect out of a La Quinta. Along with that La Quinta like bathroom, was the bad water pressure you would expect out of a basic hotel. The wallpaper seemed to be coming off the wall, and we where left with half a roll of toilet paper. One of us went down to the lobby to get some more and they told us they had to “find some” and would bring it up. It was nice to have complementary high speed, though it was not very speedy. I’m glad I didn’t pay for it. Overall it was not a horrible experience, just not what was expected. I was happy that the cleaning people respected the “Do Not Disturb” sign I left on the door my entire stay. Again my only reason for picking this hotel was because it was right across the street from the Verizon Arena (though I will not be attending a concert there again, so doubt I’ll be staying at this Radisson again). If I where to visit Manchester again (which by the way is a beautiful town), I would probably stay somewhere else. There are several other hotels to chose from, just not in the downtown area.
