My husband and I were so excited to see a new restaurant on Elm Street with a great bar. We tried getting into The Farm a year ago, but they were still doing construction. We were able to visit during the Olympics and the food was absolutely delicious, with very large portions for the price. We sat at the bar during that visit. The bartenders and staff seemed like they were trying to figure things out, which made sense since it wasn't open for very long.
We went back this past Saturday night and was completely disappointed. We sat at the bar again. We were there for two hours and I think the bartender smiled twice. She seemed stressed out of her mind. Two other girls came on and it was very chaotic and disorganized. The food was fantastic, as usual. The vibe that we got and so did the group of people beside us was that it feels like it is being run by a bunch of teenagers! There was no management at all and we were there for a long period of time. We even went back later that evening for a drink only, to see if there was different waitstaff. There were five employees off their shift sitting in the bar drinking and having a shot. They weren't disorderly, but it just didn't seem appropriate to drink on the premises after hours. If you are a bar owner, your employees shouldn't be drinking after hours together in front of the other patrons. All five of the employees were between the ages of 21 and 24. When we went back, the tables in the bar were filthy and some had dirty dishes on them for over half an hour. Great location but I don't think people will continue to venture down this end of Elm Street. It's a shame because there is such potential.
STRONG ADVICE: There is this great show on tv where this man and his staff go into bars/restaurants and refurbish them, including staff training, etc. I would either retrain the bar staff or hire all new bar staff. I would not be surprised in the least if you are losing a ton of money due to overpouring, among other things.
