“Home cooking for real”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2011

Don't expect same o same o when you come here. They make everything there and they do it well. Everything tasty and original. It's in a dying mall which is sad as I use to go there when it was thriving but it's there and it's well worth eating there. Pricices are in line with the quality of food and there are things for the kids

“Good food, but check your credit card statement...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2011

My husband and I had stayed at the South Mountain Resort, which is attached to the shops where this place was located. The first day we got there, we could smell the food from the hallway of our resort. We went exploring and found this place. We were leery at first since it is in an almost deserted shopping center, and it was also around 3:00 - an odd time to eat - and not many people were at the restaurant. We decided to stop anyway, and the food was good. I've had better BBQ (I'm used to BBQ that is dripping with BBQ sauce and this wasn't), but it was good nonetheless. For two people and a tip, our bill was just over $30. The big surprise came a month later when we were going through our credit card statement. We were overcharged by almost $5 ($4.52 actually). Suspicious, since it's not enough to draw attention unless you actually go through your receipts when you check your credit card statement. It was also not just a typo on their part when entering the amount, since it is not just an even dollar amount off. We're hoping it was just an explainable error in which they entered someone else's bill on our account and our bill on someone else's account. We are still going to have our credit card company look into the situation. However, if we return to Lincoln in the future, we will probably not return because of it.

“Great Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2011

It's hard to find the restaurant, as many of the shops in the surrounding mall area have closed but the food is delicious. Wonderful Texas barbeque in the middle of the White Mountains. It was not full summer season yet, and hours were limited but the food was great!

“worth the wait !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2011

After a long hike in the woods and my boyfriend loving BBQ we found the Texas toast eatery. We went for dinner around 7 and found the place empty. This scared us a little. After meeting our hostess (which is also the owner /cook/waitress) we were seated and greeted with sweet tea. Which I probably had 9 glasses of. After ordering chicken soup with dumpling and a bbq sampler platter for 2. The same hostess came over and explained everything that we were about to eat how she HOMEMADE cooked everything and of coarse exchanged recipes which was awesome. I highly recommend the jalapeño corn muffins! These people live and breathe this restaurant. Please don’t mistake there southern hospitality as being rude. The next day we went for breakfast we had a little wait, as it was very busy. But again the food did not disappoint! Everything you could tell was fresh and made with care and pride. The location truly hides this gem! It is tucked away in a mall and is probably the only thing keeping people coming top this shopping center. I would defiantly recommend this place and we will definitely go back again

“Best hot breakfast in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2011

We were in Lincoln mid-week after Labor Day and had a hard time finding a place to get a hot breakfast. Most were closed, one had a long wait, Subway was not an option. We were thrilled to find that TEXAS TOAST, tucked into the mall, was open and serving. We were the only ones in there and it was one of the joys of our trip. Great food. Great value. REAL MAPLE SYRUP without the extra charge!! We almost missed it because of it being in the mall, but were sorry we couldn't come back for lunch. HIGHLY recommend this place!
