“Close to Boston, good snow, variety of trails...bit crowded”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

Great mountain for families of all ages and skill levels. It's close to Boston - just over 2 hours - and right off the highway. We went last February vacation so we expected the crowds and weren't disappointed there. However, even with the huge influx of vacationers, the waits in the lines really weren't too bad, since there are so many lifts and options for people.

Food is your typical ski mountain food - lots of burgers, hot dogs, and other fried stuff. They do have healthier options such as turkey wraps.

Although we didn't put our kids in the ski school, many of our friends did during that week and raved about them. Next time we head up there, we'll definitely consider it. Looking forward to another trip next year.

“Chili til the bitter end”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

We skied the last day of the season and were pleasantly surprised by the amount of snow and conditions we encountered. Even though the resort was at the tail end of the season, it was nice that one “on mountain” lodge was still open. Camp III Lodge served up chili and cold beers till the sun went down to end the season. Lines moved fairly fast and it was great to have a few additional lifts open. Worth making the trip for the last day.

“Family Oriented Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Loon Mountain offers year-round activities for the entire family. We have enjoyed this area for years. The snow making ability along with the natural snow provides great ski conditions for all ages and experience levels. The snow tubing is so much fun! You do need to make reservations in advance. We have not tried the snow shoe tours but this is another activity offered guided or on your own. During the summer there is bike rental, horse back riding, zip line, wall climbing and can't forget about the ice-cream! There is so much to do in this area and very family friendly, affordable restaurants.

“Great Ski Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

The slopes for March were excellent. The ski rental facility was well organized and expedited the rental process to get me on the slopes quickly. However, it did seem odd that the rental shop was in the far right corner. More signs maybe to point this out?

The rental equipment was great and in top condition for being used throughout the ski season. I do wish the small restaurant on the slope in front of the chair lift was open instead of being closed as I had heard they made a great burger.

One thing that made the trip a Very Good experience and not an Excellent experience was the smell of marijuana in the gondolas. Even with the windows open in the gondola, it did not clear the smell. It does not create the best family fun image for the ski area. Additionally, it was annoying to not only see snowboarders flying but people in the Family Zones, but to actually hear a snowboarder yell at a kid who was learning to ski in the Family Zone was not acceptable. Perhaps someone should be skiing to monitor the actions of skiers and snowboarders while in those areas.

The lodge was clean and heated (maybe too hot), but I wish that Starbucks was open in the basement as a departing coffee would have hit the spot (that's why I had to stop at the Dunkin Donuts in town).

I will definitely be back next winter!

“Great place to Ski in New Hampshire”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

This is our first time at Loon and we had a great time. The runs were well groomed and the staff helpful. The Tues/Thurs on-line deal was not working and they would not honor at the ticket counter. besides the price for the season everything else was good.
