“We loved the warm and friendly atmosphere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2011 via mobile

Gwen and Eric, the unpretentious owners, allowed the guests plenty of privacy, and yet were readily available to provide for our every need. Our family of five stayed in the Monticello Room which adjoined an adjacent room to form a suite. This was a perfect arrangement, with three beds in one room and a queen bed in the other for my husband and me.

The Inn itself is a beautiful, large yellow Victorian home. The guest rooms on each floor are furnished with a great deal of charm and style of the period. Guests gather in the cozy downstairs living rooms to play board games, watch DVDs, share travel experiences, and munch on Gwen's amazing chocolate chip cookies and sip hot chocolate.

Breakfast in the morning was very tasty and included French toast with real maple syrup, fruit salad, sausage, coffee, and juice.

We wanted to stay in a B and B neart Santa's Village and, since this Inn is only a few miles from the enttrance, we elt fortunate to have found it. The Inn is not close to many shops or restaurants, so winter travellers may want to come prepared withreally warm hats, gloves, boots, and jackets. We needed to purchase several fleece items at the local store across the street. Bringing a packed lunch is a good idea, too, as the local restaurants are very rustic and quite informal.

Overall, our stay was wonderful, and we will defintely return. The Jefferson Inn provided us with great family memories and even a few new friends!

We found this bed and breakfast totally accomodating, we stayed on the third floor New England Room, extremely spacious. The inn keepers are always available and very nice. Breakfast was great and the grounds are extremely peaceful. We stayed here for Thanksgiving while visiting relatives. We love the charm of the old house, and the house is kept very clean and is very attractive. There are a couple of rooms for relaxing on the first floor which is very nice. If you like Bed and Breakfasts, this is the one to try!

Room Tip: I also stayed here during the summer and it is very advisable to get the third floor room that has t...

Although we could only stay a short time we felt very much at home - we arrived late, a day earlier than booked - the friendly owners made as feel welcome and made our stay comfortable and enjoyable, a real special time. The inn is very charming and everything is done with so much attention to detail. And in the morning the breakfast was delicous and plenty. There was time for a chat and we didn't want to leave without the inn's T-shirt and mug! We certainly want to come back and can recommend the Jefferson Inn as a top choice for your stay in NH. Many, many thanks!

We stayed one night in early August, 2011 due to the proximity to Santa's Village. Having read the prior reviews, especially the one about the hot 2nd floor and how they should have taken the offer of air conditioning on the third floor, I booked the third floor "suite". The "suite" is really two bed rooms with a short hallway between them. The larger room is air conditioned, the smaller one is not. There is a small bathroom in the larger room. Well, it was somewhat warm when we stayed there. Sadly for us, the second floor was much cooler than the third floor, which was very hot. Fans provided helped very little. So, if it is somewhat hot, stay off the third floor as the air conditioning is only for one bedroom. Lighting in the smaller room is insufficient. There was some truck noise which didn't bother us unitl 6 a.m. Breakfast was good, and Gwen and Eric did offer Santa's Village tickets at a slight rate reduction. Of the three of us - two adults and one child - the consensus was two would not stay there again while one adult would. Thus, a split vote.

After reading the other reviews posted on this site, I can see that people have had good experiences here, but unfortunately for us, this was not the case. Our stay began with an awkward and uninviting welcome and went downhill from there. Although we could appreciate the well appointed rooms throughout the common areas, NH was experiencing a rare heat wave with temperatures in the mid 90's in the day and hardly below 75 or 80 degrees overnight. This made the 2nd floor "suite" absolutely sweltering and intolerable overnight. There was no air conditioning, but 2 fans were made available with the assurance that it would cool off greatly as night approached. To Gwen's credit, she did offer the 3rd floor suite which did have air conditioning, and in hind sight we definitely should have taken her up on the offer. What we didn't realize was that there is all night traffic on Route 2 with many tractor trailers going by and since we were located in the front of the house, we caught the brunt of the noise. The suite was overall clean, but we did find a hair in the bed, a band aid on the floor and a wire top of a champagne bottle on the dresser. Tub was slow to drain. The other major issue for us was the fact that we had 2 boys under 2 years old and the windows are very low with only screens in them so we had to keep them from the windows at all times. Breakfast was tasty and the boys received mini-pancakes which were cute and the fresh blueberries were a hit. However, we continued to receive just obligatory hospitality, nothing warm or special about the service. We will not be returning, and would not recommend this inn to friends.
