“Verandah, rocking chair, White Mountains. Brilliant.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

Traditional New England inn situated in the heart of the peaceful White Mountains of New Hampshire. 9 hole golf course in the valley below and outside dining on the verandah for dinner. Good food with plenty of choice at dinner and the buffet breakfast.
The rooms lack sophistication but room G-10 is enormous and comfortable, though the NY loft look with all pipework (fire sprinkler system, waste and water) could be disconcerting for some. Air conditioning worked well which was good because we stayed during the recent north east heat wave with night time temperatures not falling below 26C.
Hotel is in need of a little TLC in places but the staff are friendly and helpful. One of America's historic hotels.
The waterfalls below the hotel (1/2 mile down the road) are a popular spot for cooling off. Cruise the road to Gorham during twilight and the evening as an alternative to the $30 Moose tour from Gorham. The tour is good with a 98% sighting average. However, we saw more on the return journey to the hotel and came closer to these shy creatures on our own.

Room Tip: G-10 is a large room with access to the lower verandah. It does mean people walk past the windows G...

Beautiful location, comfortable rooms, and a great veranda for sitting around and enjoying the view. If you're looking for night-life this isn't the place. But if you want to kick back and relax, it's a great spot. The restaurant is pretty good as well (though not as nice as the Wentworth, down the hill). If you want to cool off, there's a pool across the street and it's a 10 minute walk to the Jackson Waterfalls from the hotel. Everything at the place seems so relaxed that you can't help but feel that way yourself.

Room Tip: Room G-1 has a door that opens directly onto the lower veranda. The lower area is more private and y...

Thank you for taking the time and sharing your thoughts, concerning your recent stay at our historic hotel. The Eagle Mountain House boost gorgeous mountain views, in the picture, postcard perfect setting, of Jackson NH. A short walk to the Jackson Falls, drinks and dinner on the veranda, and nine holes of golf, makes for a great stay. We hope to see you back again soon.

The Eagle Mountain House shines as a simple hotel in a rustic location. The front porch is wonderful for watching afternoon thunderstorms rolling through the hills, and the waterfalls a short walk down the road are tremendous! Nice quiet location. We had a family reunion there and they did a decent job. Don't go expecting the grand hotel experience and you won't be disappointed. Definitely dated, but clean and comfortable.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel are definitely preferred for the nice view. Rooms at the back overl...

We LOVE the Eagle Mt. House. Have been coming for almost 15 years. It's an old inn with a great porch and view. They have upgraded a few things since our last visit like coffee and cookies, AC and a community microwave. The rooms need a bit of updating, bed frames and TVs are old, paint peeling here and there. But if you like old inns and a great view, come here. Folks at the front desk are always helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms close to the porch are nice.

Stayed there in the middle of June and had a great stay. It was our second time there, but we wanted an upgrade to a mountain view room. Even though it is 20 dollars more, get the upgrade, the view of the golf courses and the mountains is worth the extra dollars. Everything else was great too. The staff was very friendly, breakfast was good, and every morning we even received hiking tips from the staff. It is also a great treat to sit in the rockers on the front porch every evening, look at the mountains, and sip our drinks . Life doesn't get any better!

Room Tip: get the mountain view rooms , just spectacular to view the mountains from your room

We have twice enjoyed our stay at this historic hotel. There is so much to do in the area - it would bei, possible to get bored! The pool is small, but it we usually had it to ourselves. We really liked the falls. The are a great place for lounging and splashing. The golf pro was accommodating, letting us go out before they officially opened. Rooms are old fashioned, and they ran out of fans while we were there. There are some excellent restaurants in town. We brought a cooler and would stop in Jackson for Sandwiches before heading out for the day. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Keep an eye out for special pricing. We have found deals on their site an in The Boston Glove.

Room Tip: The first time we chose a double w 2 double beds. It was a nice room, but small for us and our 2 te...
