I had my first legal beer at this eatery back when they were only located in a tiny cafe sized building on the edge of a golf course. The last time my husband and I had been in Jackson and eaten here was when we got married ten years ago - right after they opened on route 16 proper. The Red Fox provided us then with a casual, friendly atmosphere, incredible food, and an experience we wouldn't soon forget. Imagine our shock when we rolled into town to celebrate our 10th anniversary, and we heard they weren't open due to a fire!
Saints be praised they rebuilt, remodeled, and I'm happy to say, they're as good as ever! They actually reopened tonight. The service was stellar, the food cooked and seasoned perfectly. And everything was priced affordably, too... which is really important these days. The Red Fox is a local treasure and the staff should be proud of how hey pulled it all together after such a tragedy.
If you love mussels, do be sure to try the mussels appetizer. That and a side of pasta and veggies would be a meal fit for a king. Their meatloaf (bbq of course and wood fired) is crazy good - and this is from a gal who doesn't like meatloaf. But if you find yourself even near Jackson, make sure to stop in. It's worth the side trip.
