“Weekend getaway (Dec. 2011)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

My wife, another couple and I did a weekend getaway here this past Dec. (2011). Now posting reviews for Trip Advisor, thought I'd catch up with our past experiences. I booked by calling the inn, but it later appeared others may have been there via Group-on or some other promotion. Our "package" stay included two nights stay, including one dinner at a nearby restaurant [the 1792? house -- fantastic food, waitstaff, atmosphere! -- highly recommend that eatery], as well as breakfast (a modest, forgettable continental affair that was not kept stocked; we crossed the street to "Yesterday's" for a full breakfast), massages (great masseuses -- but book early, we had to have ours as we were checking out) and a room with a fireplace and a jacuzzi (suites are laid out funny, but are functional, nice enough and have good bedding). Inn staff was mixed (host/owner was talkative and in the lobby stocking the fire a lot, the hostess/co-owner was not very friendly, despite being at the desk and constantly on the computer, others were a mixed bag, some chatty/pleasant and others more hurried and officious; the artist in the studio off the lobby area was a nice guy and after a chat, we bought some of his photos). Inn's design is a mix between inn &hotel (rooms fungible and while having amenities, are not luxurious, more functionality here), but it is in the center of the village and has a pool table and an indoor swimming pool (small and heavily chlorinated, but still, a nice amenity). Luxury & romance levels? I would not give this top scores, but nonetheless, it was a nice weekend getaway place and it delivered on the amenities listed, if not the website hyperbole.

Room Tip: Try avoid rooms off the common area (card and pool table area).

Needed a short,` close to home getaway and we picked the right one. From the moment we walked through the front door a feeling of relaxation was upon us. There was a aroma of calmness, greetings from the hostess was informative and brief. We were shown to our room which was beyond our expectation. When we entered the room there was soft music playing. Very romantic. The spa was beyond words with its soft music and candlelight. There was also a pool table, a beautiful sitting room with a large fireplace and beautiful grounds. Enjoyed sitting on the window seat in our room reading with the fireplace on. Great place

Room Tip: ask for a suite

This is the perfect place to get away from reality. We went for our anniversary and had the one night mid week getaway. The Inn is a great combination of B&B with hotel amenities. The Inn is beautiful and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The fireplace is a nice touch for romance. We had a couples massage in our room and The massage therapists (Patty and Kathy) were fabulous. The owners (Sue and Gary) are gracious, friendly and accomodating. I can't say enough nice things about the Inn and wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the fire on the patio. The fresh baked cookies in the afternoon were great and only added to the charm and homey feeling. The continental breakfast had the best scones I've ever had. I look forward to staying there again.
Another added bonus...NO KIDS! This made the stay extra relaxing since there were no kids screaming or running around.

Room Tip: Stay more than one night!

I was a little nervous about going here due to a mix up with the original reservation but I am happy to say I was pleasantly surprised! The spacious warm common area is gorgeous. We thoroughly enjoyed the tropical spa and walking around the inn barefoot or in socks. The baked treats and granola were delish! Having tea available 24/7 was nice with a self-operating hot tea electric pot. The area is a quaint little town with rich history. We enjoyed the farmer's/artisan's market in the open field next door and walking around the town and even a bike ride to take in the breathtaking scenery. There were movies on DVD for the room and board games available as well as tables built for checkers and cribbage. Sue gave a great recommendation for dinner and we thoroughly enjoyed the Red Fox which was really close by. We had in room couples massage and really relaxed with that. Overall this was a great experience and we will return.

My husband and I stayed here in June for its close proximity to the Mt. Washington road race. The staff were tremendously helpful and accommodating in providing snacks & a to-go breakfast since we had to leave very early on race day. It was delicious, as were the other home baked goods and treats that we enjoyed during the stay. The smell of these permeated the lobby and only enhanced the cozy feel of the inn.

We were able to take advantage of one of their packages that included a dinner at a wonderful local restaurant and massages in our room. It was a terrific value and we really enjoyed these extras. The inn is in a great location that is convenient to many restaurants, hiking trails, and other tourist attractions. It is clean and well-maintained and we enjoyed our spacious room.

The indoor spa is a great feature and my hubby and I enjoyed splashing around in the warm water, and he found it a great way to soothe his tired, aching muscles after running up Mt. Washington.

All in all, we were tremendously pleased with our stay. It has a warm, friendly atmosphere and is definitely a great value. We will definitely return there!

Just got back from my 3rd stay at the Inn. I was finally able to take advantage of the 3rd night free. I was looking to stay in the Waterville Valley area for their Renaissance's fair. We went back to The Snowflake even though it was a 1hr drive to Waterville Valley just because this is a great place to enjoy. Leaving has alway been hard. You hate to leave. Peter & Renee

We spent three nights at this inn. The location in the center of Jackson is wonderful and was very convenient to many areas we visited. As others have said, the decor in the lobby is quite dated and a bit of a turn off. We were disappointed that the spa (indoor) pool is immediately to the right as you enter the inn - directly across from the front desk with large picture windows to the lobby - therefore, we did not use this area.

The rooms are lovely with plenty of room and the tubs are great! Ask for a room on the back side of the inn, if you do not want to hear the music from the WildCat Pub, just across the street.

Breakfast is lovely, but it seems as though they do need to offer some variety for guests staying a bit longer. We did not meet the owners, wish we had as I would love to give them a bit of feedback. There are some little things that they could do that would make a big difference. We were looking forward to sitting by the fire on Sunday evening but there was no fire. I was looking forward to hot tea before bedtime, but there was not hot water. When we checked in we were told it would be available 24/7. Maybe we hit the inn on an off weekend?

We booked a package with "massages". The massages did not equal the quality of service one would expect at a spa. In fact, one of the ladies that gave a massage was later sitting at the front desk. The service was more like a warm lotion back rub. This was a disappointment and a little strange that these ladies did not appear to be professionals. After preparing the table, they mentioned they would step out for us to get settled on the tables. They stepped into our bathroom vs the hallway, again odd and invasive; they did this again after the massages were over.

We were reminded several times when booking that this was an adults only inn, yet we heard children racing up and down our hallway several times - this leave me a bit confused. I am hoping this was just an off weekend at the inn as my initial impression was great, but the longer we stayed the more things we observed that were odd.
