“Best part of our trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

As part of our New England tour we spent a couple of nights at the lovely RiverWood Inn. It was a superb experience. Susan and James are wonderful hosts. They took great care of us and provided great tips for hiking routes and restaurants. James even picked us up at a restaurant during a thunder storm and saved us from being soaked. The breakfast is homemade in every respect and we had the best waffles ever, even compared to Belgium which prides itself of the best waffles in the world. Our boys just could not stay away from the homemade afternoon cookies. In decorating their inn, Susan and James have shown the same care and attention to detail as they do to their guests. All rooms have a distinct and cozy style and the beds are wonderful. The setting is beautiful. The veranda is overlooking the mountains and there is a river just behind the property. Definitely worth a detour as they say in the Guide Michelin.

French press coffee, berries with homemade crime fraiche, hazelnut-currant waffles! And the innkeepers James and Susan are just as nice and as helpful as they can be. There's also a small but inviting pool, and access to a wonderful swimming hole on the Wild at River, which borders the back of the property.

The innkeepers (James and Susan) have done a great job restoring this B&B, and are hard at work making it even better. We spent three very comfortable nights at RiverWood, in a wonderful (and very quiet) room on the top floor. Bed was perfect, and so were all the breakfasts (one morning it was a lovely frittata served in a copper pan). The front porch is a great place to relax, and the inn is a very short walk to everything. We'll absolutely be back!

We had a wonderful time in this bucolic setting. Susan and James are great hosts. Our carriage house room was quiet and cozy and we slept like babies on a comfortable mattress with the sounds of Jackson Falls in the distance. Breakfast was superb and evenings on the covered porch were very enjoyable.

We stayed at the RiverWood Inn in February and could not have had a better time! James and Susan were wonderful hosts and Susan's oatmeal cookies were delicious. We arrived late on a Saturday night and were having trouble getting a rsvp at any of the restaurants in town but James made a phone call and got us a table at a great place nearby! My boyfriend and I kept James and Susan up late talking downstairs after dinner- great folks. Lovely room and delicious breakfast with a featured quiche. James even offered us an array of power bars to take with us for our day cross country skiing. Would come back again in a heartbeat! Thank you all!

Had a wonderful two day stay at the newly renovated RiverWood Inn. The innkeepers James and Susan were we're very gracious and the atmosphere was very quiet and relaxed with wonderful food made with love and care and a touch of Julia Child. A lovely porch sorrounds the main house with rockers where we sat and watched many birds and enjoyed the beautiful views of the mountains. We stayed in the main building in a beautifully decorated room with a king size bed, nice old fashion tub as well as a roomy shower. We took nice walks along the river and around the one mile loop and enjoyed visiting the local historical museum and several of the nice shops along the way. We definitely will be back and hope to enjoy many of the other activities available in the area such as golfing at the beautiful Wentworth golf course and fishing in the river that abuts the property, cross country and downhill skiing in the winter. On our way home we hiked the Arathusa Falls trail and enjoyed the views of the beautiful 200 foot waterfall at the top.

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed lovely depending on what you are needing. Our room had a small refrigerator and...

Very last minute, we were looking for a B & B to stay in Jackson, N. H. It was suggested by another innkeeper to try the RiverWood Inn just over the covered bridge entering Jackson. Yes, we were lucky to get a room there. They are new innkeepers to Jackson and have done so much to make it lovely. We chose the king bedded suite in the Carriage House which had plenty of room, lovely Frette linens and newly upholstered pieces of furniture. There were a couple things not perfect like the height of the bathroom sink and toilet (way too low and I'm short), the storage cabinet in the bathroom looked like it came from a discarded kitchen. BUT, the inn itself was beautifully done with a lovely breakfast room and foyer. The breakfast was fabulous: french toast with warmed real maple syrup, a yogurt/fruit/granola starter that had me drooling, a mixture of orange and cranberry juice and plenty of good coffee and tea. The innkeepers are constantly updating and fixing this inn and are sure to have it really lovely in no time.

Room Tip: We chose a ground floor room that made it easier to get in and out of.
