Stumbled upon this wonderful B&B completely by accident whilst driving around Jackson looking for a place to stay for a few nights.

What a find! Perfect house, wonderful hosts, warm and friendly atmosphere and yummy breakfasts.

Thanks Sally & Dick – we’ll be back (& bring marmite and baked beans along for you next time!!)

February 11-15, 2006. This is our second time staying at the Carter Notch Inn and would highly recommend it to everyone. Sally and Dick are charming as hosts and innkeepers. Their humor, delicious food, beautiful rooms and loving animals (Henry and Lulu) were a delightful part of our vacation in Jackson. It is a lovely and unique experience.

The Carter Notch Inn is a beautiful bed and breakfast about a mile from the heart of Jackson, NH. This was our first visit to the quaint town of Jackson and we consider ourselves fortunate to have found the Carter Notch Inn all on our own!

The entire inn is charming. Each room is beautifully decorated and the entire house is clean and well maintained. Every morning, we had a wonderful breakfast which included fruit, home made bread and made-from-scratch pancakes, quiche, and other yummy foods. When we got back from skiing, we had tea and home made cookies. There is a hot tub on the outside deck which we used every day . . . and was awesome! Sitting in a hot tub under the full moon and stars was just perfect.

In the evening, a nice warm fire was made in the fireplace in the parlor area. This was where everyone would gather and relax. It was nice because it gave us a chance to get to know the innkeepers along with other guests. On our first night, we met a friendly group of eight guests. This group had obviously stayed at the Carter Notch Inn previously. They put out a huge spread of cheese & crackers, grapes and other munchies in the living room of the inn. This group generously included us since we were the ‘newbies’ to the inn and helped to make us feel comfortable right away.

The innkeepers, Sally & Dick, are personable, friendly, accommodating and bubbly. These innkeepers purchased the Carter Notch Inn almost two years ago. The fact that their guests continue to rave about the inn and continue to come back year after year says a lot about their style and the quality of the inn itself.

Although the skiing wasn’t the best, we’re really glad to have found this treasure and have already made reservations to experience the Carter Notch Inn during the Fall hiking season.

The Carter Notch Inn made it clear "couples only and zero noise tolerance" is expected. If you are traveling in a group of 4 or more steer clear. We spent the 2/10-12/2006 weekend at the Carter Notch Inn as a group of 8. We are in our late forties and up. The innkeepers stated SIX times Friday night duing our arrival quiet was expected. We would have preferred they declined our reservations. Little did we realize what an uncomfortable weekend was in store! Friday night we were all in by 11 PM. Saturday evening we gathered in the living room for some wine and cheese and the Innkeepers apologized to newly arriving guests that it was "never this way". Upon returning at 10:30 PM we went quietly up stairs and were watching TV when they knocked on the door and said to keep it down. One of our party was in the room next door reading and did not hear talking or the TV. Carter Notch is a nice place for 2 and a place to read. Our group got the hint Friday night and tried but the weekend was uncomfortable and not worth a repeat - even as a twosome.

This beautiful B&B is nestled on a hillside in the quaint little town of Jackson Village New Hampshire. The innkeepers, Sally and Dick, are warm, interesting, and attentive to your every need. I highly recommend this inn (note, children are not invited).
p.s. The breakfasts are just scrumptious!

This was the most beautiful, romantic place we've ever stayed!

First off, don't follow directions from Mapquest - you'll go the long way. Follow the directions on the Carter Notch Inn website.

The inn is beautiful, warm and welcoming. It's decorated very nicely in a country motif, which is fitting for the house. It's an old home with loads of character.

We were very warmly welcomed by Sally and Dick. Sally gave us a tour of the house while Dick brought our luggage to our room. The common areas are well kept -- large, welcoming fireplace in the living room, TV, big wrap around porch, small room with an internet-connected computer and complimentary drinks (soda, beer wine) -- all on the first floor.

The second floor was nicely decorated -- several guest rooms and a common area with a sliding door leading out to a deck with the hot tub. There was a great assortment of books in the 2nd floor hallway, too.

The third floor had the remainder of the guest rooms.

The hot tub was a joy! We really enjoyed it after a day of sightseeing -- sitting in 102 degree bubbling water when it was below freezing outside was awesome!

Our room was spectacular -- it was room 6. We had a huge bathroom with a jacuzzi and a walk in shower -- the bathroom was bigger than most economy hotel rooms. The bedroom has a nice sitting area, private balcony, gas wood stove and king bed.

Breakfasts were awesome!! Absolutely delicious and very, very friendly. Dick and Sally have quite a knack for making folks feel right at home and relaxed.

We had such a wonderful weekend that we're going back in April!
