“Wonderfully Romantic Inn w/ 5 star service”

Whitney's Inn

Jul 16, 2008

We celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary here and what a stay we had! Anything you needed the staff was able to do without even being asked. For a country inn, there was no roughing it! Rooms were well appointed, the mattresses invoked the kind of sleep you truly dream about, soft linens, remodeled bathrooms with large, fluffy and soft white towels, great private sitting areas throughout the inn, lovely pool, flagstone patio, so many wonderful amenities.

They even have a private pond on site with rainbow trout in it and an otter! How much more relaxing can it be than to fish in a paddle boat, have a glass of wine, a fruit plate, have an otter take the occasional swim and watch the sunset.

And the food! Breakfast was wonderful and filling. The pub, the Shovel Handle, was scrumptious! They had lovely offerings for various palates as well as appetites. Live music on Friday and Saturday nights that was just the right volume so you could hear it without yelling at your dinner company.

They also know the area so well and provide great recommendations for other restaurants and area activities. They know what they are doing!

What do we know? We don't have children so we're happy to spend whatever it takes to have a peaceful and relaxing vacation and here, we didn't spend much in dollars but received thousands in value. In fact, we loved it so much we've already booked another trip!

“Whitney's Inn: A perfect New Hampshire experience”

Whitney's Inn offers the experience you expect when visiting New Hampshire. The newly remodeled farmhouse, cottages and mini-ski lodge offer amenities you want (heated pool, wi-fi, flat-screen TVs in the rooms) in a picture-perfect New Hampshire setting. Located only seven minutes from Storyland and 11 minutes from the center of old North Conway, Whitney's Inn overlooks Black Mountain ski resort and is nestled within New Hampshire farmland where we spotted a red fox running through the fields both nights of our stay. Black Mountain ski resort offers horse riding tours and pony rides and the pond across the street from the Inn is a quiet fishing hole. The rooms are tastefully quaint and we enjoyed the amount of space provided in the mini-ski lodge that offered a bedroom, sitting area (with pull-out couch and local stone fireplace) and an eating area with table for four, microwave and mini-fridge. We even had a small deck overlooking the barn and pool. As with Whitney's Inn's sister property - the Inn at Jackson - the breakfasts are mouth-watering. Daily offerings of french toast, pancakes, belgium waffles and gourmet omelettes are a perfect start to any day. That is if you can save room for breakfast after the delicious "starters" - raspberry scones or chocolate-banana muffins. The whole experience is rounded out by the owner and his staff who are simply wonderful. I would highly recommend Whitney's Inn for anyone - especially folks looking to escape the madness of North Conway traffic while still being within easy driving distance of all that the North Conway/White Mountains region has to offer.

I must say from the minute I contacted this place I felt like it would be suitable. I spoke with Susan on the phone and she was warm and friendly and very informative. This is our 6th trip in the past 4yrs to the North Conway area and usually we stay near the outlets but we can honestly say no more. We loved the Jackson area and it is only 15-20mins from the outlets. For a couple the Whitney Inn was lovely, quiet, great hot breakfast, and lovely beds!!! Definetly worth checking out! Check out their website and you can view their rooms---- rustic log beds. I recommend ROOM #16 it's spacious and by far the best out of the ones we saw while we were there (King Size room).

Whitney's Inn at the foot of Black Mountain Ski Resort has been totally transformed by the new owners. Quaint, comfortable Adirondack ambience and REALLY good food made for a delightful stay I didn't want to end. As a non-skier, I can't wait to go back in the winter and soak up some more charm, hospitality and relaxation. We spent a lot of time enjoying Jackson's flora & fauna as well as the friendly folks of the town itself - we may have to move there!

“A Nice Surprise”

Whitney's Inn

My husband and I wanted to spend a weekend away to celebrate our Anniversary. We are familiar with North Conway and typically stay on the main drag. However, while researching things to do in and near North Conway, we came across an event that was connected with the Whitney Inn. After speaking with the owners, we decided to give it a try even though we didn't know much about the property or location. Turns out we had one of the most enjoyable and relaxing trips we have ever had while visiting New Hampshire.

The Inn is beautiful. The owners are most hospitable. Our room was spacious and comfortable. From the lobby to the bedspreads, the decor is a beautiful Adirondack Style. The adjoining rustic style pub, Shovel Handle Pub, is cozy. The staff members are friendly and the food is delicious.

We stayed in room #15 in the main Inn. The rooms include a private bath. Our room included a small seating area and a very comfortable king size bed. The six windows in our room offered a nice bright room with a beautiful view of the mountain.

Lastly, the delicious breakfast served each morning in the charming country style dining area, is a treat. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. The fireplace offers a cozy and relaxing dimension to the room. The food and service are excellent.

We truly felt like we stayed at a friend's home. The owners leave the doors to the unoccupied rooms open so that guests can take a tour of the Inn. We walked around the Inn and took in the history of the property. The owners spoke to us as their guest making us feel like part of a family rather than a stranger. Whether it was saying "hi" on our way in and out of the Inn or greeting us at our table to make sure we were enjoying our stay, the staff members were friendly and accommodating.

Although we like the hustle-and- bustle of North Conway during the day, we will now drive the short 8 miles to Jackson Village where we can relax, snuggled in the mounthains, and surrounded by the friendly people at Whitney's Inn.

Our Anniversary weekend turned out to be a "nice surprise" spent with wonderful people and surrounded by history and comfort.
