“Beautiful trails and easy rentals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2012

The ellis river trail is beautiful and rolling along the river. I went up hall trail for some incline and nice ski down. Great place in a neat little town. Service was also fast, knowledgeable, and courteous; in and out on the trails in 5 - 10 minutes

“Great trails, scenic as can be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2012

There is nothing better than XC skiing in Jackson to beat the winter doldrums. It is truly special.

We stayed at the Carter Notch Inn and were able to hit well-groomed trails right from the street! It was so nice to find great trails that are perfectly maintained. In fact, I'd suggest driving 5 min up to the Eagle Mtn area after buying passes at the village ski center. If you are a novice skier, the Woodchuck and Eagle fields have incredible scenery and no hills; if you have some experience the Wave, Henry and surrounding trails are some of the best blue-rated tracks you'll ever find.

Do check the JacksonXC web site for trail conditions and weather forecast if you can. You can never predict what Mother Nature will bring - sometimes Bretton Woods has more snow and sometimes (like now) Jackson is the place to be.

Finally, my wife and I have found the lessons to be invaluable and affordable. Scott was wonderful introducing us to the sport a few years ago and Sally later on gave us a gift of handling downhills so we are comfortable on blue trails. Thank you both! And best to Eric in the shop and his help with XCwear.

This is a glowing because Jackson XC has opened up winters for us and given us overnights in the mountains to look forward to. We were disappointed that they were so inflexible about the half day pass - they should have given us leeway to drive up to Eagle Mtn and then get boots, skis, gloves, etc on instead of expecting us to loiter around.

So check conditions and enjoy!

“Very lovely cross-country skiing, both easy and difficult terrain available. Friendly staff and nice lunch area.”

Wonderful sandwich shop (J-Town Deli) short walk down the street. Rentals easy and quick. Nice staff were honest about the limited terrain this time. Looking forward to coming back when more snow falls!

“Superlative - If Natural Snow Is Abundant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2011

Over 60 miles of groomed trails, varying from beginner to expert. Tour around the village, the golf course, the Ellis River Trail for novices. Stunningly gorgeous back country trails for advanced intermediate and experts. But check that there is a least a foot of natural snow on the ground at the lodge and golf course. Grooming is superb, other than when there is no snow to groom or after extensive rain and freeze up. (Global warming is making it tougher to operate).
