My boyfriend and I stayed in the Greenfield Inn during the weekend of my best friend's wedding. There were about 6 other couples staying there from our group. We all experienced this strange-passive aggressive rudeness by the owners.
They post notes all over the inn telling you information that any idiot could figure out themselves, like, close the shower curtain when you get in the shower...geesh, thanks, I never thought to do that. In the morning I went downstairs to enjoy breakfast, I asked him: do I just serve myself? " to which he responded "What do you think it's there for?"
The Inn boasts itself as being family friendly but this is not true. Our friends brought their 18 month old and at breakfast the wife yelled from the kitchen " someone needs to watch her." Thanks lady, they typically let her fend for herself but your suggestion makes them re-think that method of parenting. Then when the baby started to pay with some stuffed animals in the corner the man informed us that they weren't toys. That's funny, I didn't realize that a 30yr old, dirty, stuffed Mickey Mouse was a treasured decoration and in-fact not for children.
All of us staying at the Inn started talking at the wedding and we all had similar experiences. It provided some laughs and entertainment but I would sacrifice that for a pleasant experience. The only positive was that there is a for sale sign in the front. My hope is that if someone buys it, they change the name, because I know about 200 people from the wedding that will never stay there.
