“Family friendly and very comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

Visiting family in Gorham we have always stayed at the "well known inn" across town and have always had a not so pleasant experience so we decided to try the Mt. Maddison this time around. I cannot express what a great experience we had. Our room was very clean and cozy with the most comfortable beds I think I've ever slept on away from home. I was excited to see how family friendly your place is. Gorham has seen better days but hopefully with some new businesses and mom and pop shops coming back I know this is the place I will recommend! Thank you for the effort in keeping Gorham on the map! It makes me proud to see how well maintained your place is and how friendly and inviting your staff are.

We were asked if we wanted to upgrade our room upon arrival and my husband agreed. However, if we had known that two trains would have been going through Gorham in the middle of the night, we would never have stayed in Gorham in the first place. The train tracks are immediately behind this hotel. The room was OK but the air conditioner was ineffective. (I would have thought for the price of the room that a box of tissues would have been available)!!!

Our first stay in the area. We picked this inn because it's pet-friendly. Two couples, one child, one dog in a family suite. Very impressed all around. Friendly and attentive owners, even though it was fully booked and they must have been stressed. Everything seemed freshly renovated, with new quality furniture (Thomasville). Linens, towels, pool, etc. all spotless. Only downside was that the beds barely left room to squeeze by into the bathroom. Had a brief chat with the owner, he said they do what they can but they just can't change the floor plan (the building is from the 50s).

Our room was in the rear and quiet, except that once per night, a freight train ran right behind the building. Rooms toward the street may be noisier, as it's a busy intersection (think logging trucks), but the windows are very good and should suppress most of that.

We visit the Gorham/Berlin area often, and only when the Mt. Madison Inn is booked do we stay elsewhere. It is impeccably clean, and features a great outdoor pool, hot tub, and bounce house for the kids. While other facilities in the area claim to be 'renovated', the Mt. Madison lives up to that claim. All of the rooms boast newly appropriated bedding, appliances, and bathrooms. And the housekeeping staff are all friendly and very thorough. Our latest stay was from 8-7-12 through tomorrow, 8-11-12 and we were very pleased with the entire experience from check in to responses to our inquiries regarding area offerings.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms would be a bit quieter, all are recently renovated and equally comfortable.

We stayed at the Inn for 3 nights. Lets start off with the positive points. The pool was very warm, the Jacuzzi was enjoyable, the place was clean.

We really utilized the BBQ with side burner ( bring a frying pan for breakfast) microwave, and fridge with separate freezer. They also generously provide paper plates and cutlery at the front desk..

But this is where the positive start and the negatives begin. People mainly use a hotel for a place to sleep. Especially after a hard day of hiking, running around the theme parks, or shopping a good night sleep is essential. We certainly did not get it at Mt. Madison Inn. Although the hotel is at the intersection of 2 major roads, luckily you don't hear the traffic noise. But the hotel has a small airport and a railway track RIGHT behind it.. The nightly train blows its horn as it approaches the intersection of the road and it really does sound like it is coming through the hotel. I wish I was warned of this before hand as it startled us. The airport also had a plane land after midnight one night.

I have heard other say that the Serta beds were comfortable. I could not disagree more. I could barely move after sleeping on the hard bed. Upon hearing my complaint about a severely sore back the hotel did add a extra mattress pad which did help somewhat but I am sure I am not the only one that had Thoracic pain after attempting to fall asleep on the mattress.

Would I stay there again? Yes, if it was not essential that I had a good night sleep

We booked this sight unseen in March while planing a hike up Mt Washington. We were pleasantly surprised. We were in rooms 22 and 23 near the end for two nights. The rooms were modern and clean. The reception staff was very nice and helpful. There is a pool, a hot tub, and a bouncy thing for children near the pool. The rooms have a refrigerator and microwave. Free wifi. There are a few gas barbecue grills on the property for guest use with picnic tables nearby.

It is family friendly but okay for adults without children. It is a short drive to the center of town for restaurants and liquor store. I didn’t see a grocery store though. We enjoyed meals at Saalt and take-out pizza delivered from Mr. Pizza.

we were guests a Mt Madison for sat and sun night 7-28 and 7-29-12 . Check in was fast and friendly. We were pleased with the room and accomendations and Mt Madison is ideally located to near by restaurants and we enjoyed the pool also. We were in Gorham to visit Mt Washington and we were given directions to different places to see in Gorham area. Yes, the bathroom is a tad small, but who spends much time there anyways. Overall, a very well maintained motel and room and interenet were very good. beds were very comfortable. We would definatly suggest this motel to nyone looking for a clean comfortable place to stay in Gorham Nh
