“A Mountaintop Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

This was the fifth or sixth time I've been to the top of the mountain-- other times I hiked up through Tuckerman's or drove up on the auto road myself. The best way to go, however, is by van. It is not cheap but considering the wear and tear on your vehicle plus the need to be very attentive to driving (there are no guardrails) it is the best way to see as much as possible. I'm a history buff so learning much of the history of this place made the trip and the overall experience very delightful. I highly recommend this trip-- it truly is a "mountaintop experience."

“Fun experience, but scary ride back down”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

The drive up the mountain was great your on the inside of the very tight two way road, the views are beautiful and there are various stop areas to take in the sights. The drive down however is a different story your on the outside of the small road and there are no guardrails so its very scary to look down the side of the mountain as your driving. All in all it was fun going.

“Great if not afraid of heights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

The view that one can see on the way and from the top - if the weather permits - are astonishing. One also passes several climate zones on the way to the top, so it's advisable to dress for colder temperatures up on the mountain. It's also quite windy up there, so beware. The road itself can be quite tricky so the option of taking a guided tour in the van allows one to worry less about the road and have more enjoyment of the route.

“Awesome views, but at a cost”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2013

This is definitely worth the visit because you get some amazing views from the top of Mount Washington. But it is pricey for the trip up. The roads were a little scary, especially when there was no guard rail to prevent you from sliding down the mountain. Takes a toll on your brakes so be aware. Would do it again if I was nearby.

“Road to the Clouds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

I nice trip to the highest point in the northeast. This is not for people scared of exposure, the road is narrow with drop offs. And listen to the road staff and use low gear coming down off the mountain, don't burn your brakes up by riding them driving down.
I prefer to run up the auto road at the race on the third Saturday of June. The ride down is always a joy looking the the scenery.
