Very nice establishment, had a wonderful brick oven pizza, plenty of TVs going on. Atmosphere was upbeat. Would definitely go here again

“Location & Variety”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014

The Thirsty Moose is the latest inhabitant in what locals and UNH alumni remember as "Baldface Books". Right in the middle of downtown Dover, it's an excellent location.

The beer menu is ample, good specials and good descriptions.

The food menu is completely overwhelming. I understand that folks like variety, but in my experience the "Cheesecake Factory" approach to food means very few dishes will stand out. I had the steak tips (chimichurri) and was disappointed that I needed steak sauce to add flavor to the meal.

That being said, the staff could not have been more friendly or attentive. There is an absolute focus on the customer here, which will likely have me coming back in.

“Great addition to Dover !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

This is a great place !!! It is fun for a night out for friends, couples or families. The restaurant itself is a great setup. There are two nice, full bars and plenty of tables. The windows of the restaurant open to the streets so it's open air which is nice because it can tend to get loud with all the TV's and voices. The service is EXCELLENT !! There are wait staff but also people just constantly walking around making sure you have everything you need, taking away unneeded dishes, refilling your drink, etc. They were very cheery and friendly. The food was great! Try the BBQ chicken nachos! Super yummy !! Will be back again and again !

“excellent pub food, neat old building”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

The Thirsty Moose has a restaurant in Portsmouth NH, but has just opened another in Dover, NH.
We ate there last night and were pleased that they continue to serve excellent food, including the prime rib sandwich, with au jus, and chili cheese fries. There are dinner selections as well as sandwiches and pizza. What is really fun is the completely remodeled old building, which was once a bank. Old marble floors have been uncovered and polished. The ice bar is made out of beer bottles and slats from oak barrels make up the welcome desk and the wall behind it. Of course there are many TV's and it is some what noisy. There are 70 beers on tap. We will definitely return there for casual dining in a friendly atmosphere.
