I needed to get away and the Darby Field Inn exceeded all of my expectations, which is hard to to! From the beautiful room (Tess' Room) which had an amazing view of the snowy mountains, a great gas fireplace which looked and felt real..to the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in at an Inn or hotel. The restaurant at the Inn was romantic with great views of the mountain, nice relaxing music and the food was out of this world! The Pork tenderloin dish was truly delicious - I even had it two nights in a row! The full breakfast's which are free with your stay are better than any breakfast I have ever paid for!!! The Darby Field in is nestled away in a great location and only seconds from the beautiful Kangamangus Highway!! The owner (Marc) and Carol made my stay one of the best get-aways ever!!! I can't say enough good things about this amazing place! I will be back every year for sure..possibly even twice a year..in the Fall and Winter! The prices were great too! I highly recommend this place whether you want a nice quiet get-away for yourself or are looking for a romantic weekend!!
I am a Newlywed! My husband and I tied the knot at this charming bed and breakfast. We had 13 people at the ceremony and dinner. We had a great time, great food, views, rooms, sleigh ride!! Eveything was AWESOME. we plan to return for our anniversary.
Stayed for 1 night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Wanita, the innkeeper, was very helpful and so friendly. Food is delicious (try the roast duckling) and room very clean & comfortable. A definite recommendation although a bit of a drive away from the main road.
The rooms at the Darby Field Inn were disappointing, although it clearly states the traditional rooms are for those travellers who will be out for most of the day, they were somewhat tired and cramped compared to other inns we stayed at for the same price. Our travelling companions were given a room that we had not been allocated in our confirmation of booking and could not sleep due to the paper thin walls and their neighbours holding a loud conversation. To be fair this was addressed the next day and they were moved to the original room that we had been allocated with the explanation of 'I don't know why that was switched'. Our first breakfast was somewhat of a frosty affair as we were not made to feel welcome at all by our hostess and we felt guilty for asking for food, the food when it arrived was very good and this certainly did not occur the second day when that particular waitress was not there, we were greeted in a friendly way and made to feel most welcome by the hostess Wanita and her helpers. The innkeeper Marc was friendly he allowed us to play cards in the bar on a particularly busy night for him and there was no pressure to order any food until we were ready, again the food ordered was very good. It has to be said that you are paying for the location which is incredible, peace and quiet and a wonderful view over Mount Washington, so if you considering a trip here I would certainly think about upgrading to one of the rooms with additional facilities.
