“Lovely family stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

As a family with two adult children of different genders, we have trouble finding affordable accommodations for short family getaways; we need three beds and enough space. The Merrill Farm Inn offered just what we needed -- a room with a loft above and sofabed and queen below. It was quiet and comfortable and allowed our early riser a chance to walk along a scenic stretch of the Saco River. Special thanks to the friendly lady who offered me (and others) breakfast a half hour early; that is really nice service.
The only reason I am not giving the Inn five circles is the televisions. Ours worked, but other viewers noted, they are very old and should be replaced.

Room Tip: Offers great loft rooms.

We stayed two nights and found the resort clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and polite. Breakfast was complimentary and extremely adequate as were the cookies and muffins served in the afternoon. We didn't have time to try out the pool. Overall, a great stay and only suggestion is to consider upgrading the interior.

Very clean and a great place if you plan on any activities on or in the Saco river. They have canoes available for nothing more than a deposit. They have great cookies in the afternoon and a great breakfast in the AM. Late on Friday afternoon we decided to take a drive up to the White Mountains on Saturday. About a 4 hour drive for us using secondary roads. I had seen this place hundreds of times as I had passed it on the way to places more north than this. Due to availability issues our normal place was booked but this place had one unit left, a loft suite. So, knowing where the place was and what it looked like from the outside we booked the unit.
Greeted by extremely friendly people and very pleased with the unit. They are "on" the Saco river which we spent time at several times that day and in the evening. Location is south of our normal place but we found it to be very convenient to all that North Conway has to offer. We had an extremely relaxing time and really good seafood and a couple great restaurants are only a minute drive away. Wi-Fi in the main house, not in the rooms detached from that building. "Put the laptop away", relax and listen to...... nothing but the river.

Room Tip: Not sure about other rooms here. The loft suite would be great for two couples of a couple kids alth...

Pros:
Although the staff at the front desk had a difficult time locating my reservation through booking.com, they were apologetic and upgraded our room to one with a tube.

The breakfast was better than most free hotel breakfasts because of homemade muffins and maple butter.

Cons:
The woman at the desk on our second day was rude to my husband when he asked to have the key to the fitness room even stating that if he used it he needed to "stop anyone under 18 from coming in" as if he would be checking Ids.

The ac unit was so loud that it was difficult to sleep in the room.

After leaving I noticed my credit card had been charged twice and then, oddly, half of the duplicate charge refunded. I called and was told by the person who answered that the manager would have to handle the refund and that she would be on later and would call me. I received no call. I then followed-up again leaving a message and got a call back saying the refund had been made. I didn't expect flowers and a card, but an apology for an extra $167 charge would have been appropriate.

Merrill Farm is a wonderful place to stay! Once called Merrill Farm Resort, it is a great place for families. The rooms are perfect (we commonly stay in a loft room), and can accommodate a large family. Your stay allows you the use of a canoe (for a $5 charge). You can't beat that!! The pool is lovely and there are also lawn games such as shuffle board and badminton.

I stayed here during the week. There is definitely a B&B feel to it and if you are looking for a place that is more 'homey' than this place will do. As a business traveler I would prefer more modern accommodations. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast can't be beat.

Merrill Farm Inn is family friendly and affordable, we have stayed at the inn at least 5 times. Its conveinantly located to North Conway center and several different ski mountains. We typically stay in the Loft room which can sleep up to 8 people and is affordably priced. The Inn its self is pretty old fashion so if you are looking for upscale furnishings and accomodations etc. this probably isn't the place for you. But as far as my family is concerned Merrill Farm Inn meets our expectations and my kids look forwrad to every visit. We typically visit during ski season so we do not spend much time in the room but when we are in the room the Loft is big enough for everyone to have their own space and it has 2 bathrooms which is always handy when traveling with kids.
The breakfast is perfect they offer toast, english muffins, cereal, fruit and delicous homemade muffins. They also have cookie time from 3:30-5:30 which always a nice way to end a day after skiing or snow tubing.
Merrill Farm Inn is clean and comfortable and in my opinion when you are not spending a lot of time in the room those are 2 of the most important factors we look for....what the bedding "looks" like or if its an "old fashion air conditoner" is a non-factor for us....clean, comfortable and affordable is our concern and Merrill Farm Inn has never disappointed us
