“Quite disappointed on return visit.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

Every once in a while, I have a craving for Kobe. And since the advent of NH's top Kobe restaurant in Concord, one hopes that one's craving gets the necessary fix - especially at a 45-55-65 dollar range per plate.

Although the Kobe preparation and cut itself did not disappoint, the entire surrounding accompaniments were utterly disastrous for a $56 plate, including sides.

The server was courteous and gracious, but to tell the customer that 5 shrimp are included in the cocktail app, to then return and mention only three after ordering is simply careless. Added one more, but for over $13, I was wishing I had ordered the oysters and Kobe pops combo for lesser money.

Moving on to the main. The plate arrived ice cold. This meant the vegetable (asparagus) under the Kobe was also ice cold. The additional side of lobster Mac and cheese (which costs more) was also cold. Not ice, but not adequate. Upon sending back the lobster Mac side, kitchen sent back a "new" side with half the portion and none of the lobster. I just decided to eat and run. By this point, and forgetting to never order asparagus out of season, as each stalk needs four to equal one summer in season thickness, the only thing prepared well was the steak.

However, buyer beware: the "oscars" option, which proclaims an addition of a crab cake, hollandaise and asparagus is one of the biggest scams north of Manhattan. The steak arrived with a ton of delicious "jus" which was extraordinary, but with a smattering of hollandaise and. Crab cake with literally was the size of a silver dollar, and less than inch thick. For adding $6 to the $45 base price, one expects more. As well, the lobster Mac is an extra $4. So I don't know how 45+6+4 =56 but it did on my bill, and I rather left as soon as possible than get in another debate.

With one cocktail and a mediocre Italian red, the bill without tip was a handsome $95. I know this isn't Boston or NYC, but I'd expect far more for this price in NH. High end is a completely different caliber.

Shame, though - as the Kobe itself was superb. But what Broadway star can shine without a good production, chorus and orchestra flanking it properly?

“No nonsense steakhouse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

No nonsense steak and seafood. Great wedge salad and a decent filet - they seem to do the basics well. Wine list is a bit limited. Service was attentive and helpful.

“Nice addition to Concord restaurant list”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

O's is a nice place to have a drink at their large and impressive bar. The barkeepers are not as good as you would expect for such a nice facility. The food is generally good but over priced. O's is a great option to meet before or after a show at the Red River Theater.

“Nice Atmosphere But Always Underwhelmed By The Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013 via mobile

We have eaten at O's perhaps a half dozen times. Having sat at the bar, at bar tables, and in the main dining area, we prefer the bar tables. The atmosphere is nice throughout - modern, large windows, airy - but we find the bar area next to the windows to have the best feel.

I just wish that I liked the food. But, we almost always leave feeling underwhelmed and disappointed. Most of the apps sound great but tend to be solidly mediocre. My two biggest gripes - they are served so quickly that you just know it is mostly pre-made and reheated (with taste to match), and most are overly sauced and a bit gloppy. The steaks are decent, but IMHO not up to good steakhouse quality which is the restaurant's pricepoint. In our experience, the non-steak entrees are sometimes good and sometimes not - inconsistent is the best way to describe. The burger is decent, but you'll get a much better burger at the Granite bar.

Service is hit or miss.

We wanted O's to be great. That wish, and its great location next to Red River has given us reason to keep giving it another shot, but they have a long way to go on food and service quality and consistency. I still have hope.

“Great Steak...great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

Can't go wrong with the NY Prime...just a great steak cooked to perfection each time. If you sit at the bar Garrett should take great care of you. Very knowledgable about what he is serving and willing to help you find just the right wine or cocktail.
