“Nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2014

Stopped in Concord for the evening and went here for dinner. As we waited for a table we went downstairs to a cozy lounge area for a drink. Very nice. We were then texted that our table was ready. The food was very good. I recommend going here if you find yourself in this pretty town.

“A little touch of Europe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

The Barley House is a small Pub/Restaurant in the heart of Concord NH near the capital the atmosphere is old English with all wood walls and a good size bar in the Pub side there is a good selection of English brews as well as the typical American selection. There are lunch specials and a unique dinner menu. a good quite place to stop for a beer and a few appetizers
The staff is very friendly and it is a comfortable place to socialize after work

“Busy place - great burger”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2013

We went on a Friday night and it was really busy. We waited a while. Staff was friendly and service was good once we were seated. The burger was fabulous! Wow. We will definitely be back.

“Disappointing...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

Based on the excellent reviews here, I was excited to have a meal or two at The Barley House. Sadly, it fell short of expectations. The Blarney Puffs were tasteless. The stew, while tasty, was lukewarm and needed quite a bit of extra salt. The fish and chips were bland. The selection of beer and spirits was impressive, but the food just did not live up to the hype.

“Verrry slow- avoid”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

We went on a Saturday- we tried to get a reservation but they were not taking them. We had a 7:30 show to go to, and arrived at 5 PM. Upon arrival, we were told there was a 20-30 minute wait. We waited and waited. We asked to eat in the bar but were refused. Over an hour later we were finally seated. We asked to see the manager, but he never came to our table. In her defense, our waitress tried hard, but there just wasn't enough time (in her estimate for us to get entrees, so we ended up just getting salads and then having to leave for the show. This was not the waitresses fault, the kitchen was just that slow apparently.

I would certainly not recommend this place on a weekend, unless you enjoy sitting around waiting to be seated, and then waiting for food. I don't know what it's like during the week, and will likely never find out.
