We booked a room at the Inn at Newfound Lake on a whim. I had a few days off and wanted to kayak. Well - this Inn did not dissappoint. It overlooks the lake, our room, (while small) was impeccably appointed and immaculate, and the chef "Tom" is a Master Chef without doubt. The food was simply amazing! We had a local ice cream spot "Shackett's" deliver kayaks to us and we paddled that beautiful lake overlooking the mounts for two days. Also, trails and natural gorges await those with hiking interests nearby. The Inn warns - no A/C, no phones, no TV. Believe me - that IS a gift! But, if you have children, there's a TV room with games - if they're experiencing withdrawal. A small, but satisfying breakfast is included (no lunch served here) and try to get rooms that have a private bath if you prefer, as those facing the lake have shared baths across the hall. There is no need to go elsewhere in that area for dinner when you have it all right there. We made that mistake one night. Just know that weekdays are the most quiet and less expensive, as it is a wedding spot on most summer weekends. The gardens are also beautiful, thanks to one of the two owners. We'll be going back for sure.
