“Elegant and charming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

The Mt Washington is indeed a legend. I recently stayed here to attend a wedding. It was a wonderful, wonderful experience. The hotel was built in 1902 and has been beautifully renovated. I had a king sized bedroom with a couple of sitting chairs, a desk and chair and the most gorgeous view of the grounds and Mt Washington in the background. I'm an Omni Select member and took advantage of the complimentary morning coffee service. What a treat to open up your door in the morning wearing one of the lovely hotel robes and get a tray with coffee and juice to start the day. Then once you get ready to face the world you go down to breakfast in an elegant dining room again with fabulous views and a breakfast buffet that is second to none. If what you wanted wasn't on the table, all you had to do was ask. I had one of the best Belgian waffles I've ever had. It was just perfect. The staff inquired the reason for my visit and I told them a wedding. There were several that weekend and they said "oh, you're here for the BIG one." Well it was a big wedding and it went off without a hitch. Even the day cooperated for us as we sat out on the terrace waiting for the bride. The hotel staff did a fabulous job starting with the 4 pm cocktail hour and then a 5 course dinner and reception that went until 11. The food was excellent and we all had a fabulous time. Be sure to check out the Cave--a relic from the Prohibition Era. Lots of fun and a great band on the weekend. Besides the winter sports, it's a great place to visit in the summer and I'm already thinking about when I can go back.

We thought they did a good job of accommodating a group of 10 of us for 4 days. The food was okay, nothing to write home about, but the staff was friendly, courteous and caring, which went a long way with all of us, even when they messed up a few times with locations for breakfast for our team. Beautiful location in the fall and winter, and enjoyed it alot.

The Mount Washington Resort is a wonderful place to stay in the White Mountains. During the off season is the best time to stay, as it is not as busy, it's a very relaxed atmosphere, and quiet. There is plenty to do at the resort but if you are looking for something to do outside, there is skiing across the street, hiking, zip lining, Outlet shopping 35 minutes away in North Conway, etc.

We loved the Mount Washington! the accommodations, the amenities, the food and above all, the staff! Such a great hotel! We have visited twice and this past trip was for our anniversary. The room was beautiful and so was the bathroom. All of the food is great there but the menu and the staff at Stickney's is amazing. We can't wait to go back - next time we're bringing the kids!

The hotel reminds me of the movie in"The Shining". After taking the tour (make sure to take it)I can see it could easily compare. My room was a single queen, traditional. It was extremely small and the bathroom floor tilted. The building is very old so that is understandable. The staircase is beautiful, the place is certainly elegant but rather boring this time of year. My friends and I came in on a Tuesday afternoon and left Thursday morning. The only place to eat was Stickney's and that was just okay. Presentation of food was really missing. I need to buy my vegetable side dish? Really?? Not a single thing on the plate make it attractive except two small lamb chops. We did like the chips and cheese appetizer but the lamb died in vain. I got the butterscotch bread pudding "to go" and it was heavy as lead and not at all tasty. I didn't eat it.my friend ordered coffee ice cream to go and discovered it was strawberry! I was awake all night because my DECAF was not. Breakfast was better than dinner had been. The presentation was much better in the a.m.. The spa is huge and very nice but make sure you make reservations and make sure what you want to do is available and open for business within this hotel. We got conflicting information on whether anything was open or not and the concierge really didn't help much. I am afraid they need more training. The Cave and other the eateries on property were not open. What a shame. We were disappointed. There was nothing remarkable about the service, no personal interaction with anyone except my housekeeper. I spoke first but she was very cordial. The place is very clean but a lot of new help and I would say under trained. It was an experience but I doubt I would go back. If I did, it would have to be in the busier season when things are open. Oh yes, the Valet service was very good.

Room Tip: I understand #314 is the room that holds the bed of the late Mrs. Stickney and could possibly come w...

This hotel is a National Treasure not just big and comfortable, not simply in a greta natural location, but it has also a slightly magical retro feel , hard to explain... just really nice. From the picture of "the Old Man" on the stairs to the tales about the ghosts, it is something special. the old fashioned eleavtor is a blast with different witty drivers everyday. The speak easy is also somewhere you have to go , down in the cellar, you can jsut imagine Scarface coming in with his Tommy gun to have an old fashioned. ther is s aneta rat gallery and some noce shops. The food is in general good and the wine choice well thought through. Swimmimg pools, hot tubs and a great gym, plus if you are feeling up to the challenge there are several challenging and not so challenging hikes. Finalli I would mention the greta conference facilities, we were in the boardroom and the views which changed every day, were perfect also with helpful "can do" personnel. If you are in the area do not hesitate
