“Luxurious relaxation at its best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

The accommodations inside the Omni Mount Washington (or what most of us still know as the Mount Washington Hotel) absolutely match the surrounding beauty and imposing presence of the hotel itself outside. We spent a relaxing long weekend here recently to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday, and the Omni Mount Washington did not disappoint. The highlights are almost too numerous to recall: from the manually-operated elevators, to the giant moose head over the enormous lobby fireplace, the place is filled with charm and history. But the rooms are not musty or stodgy feeling. Ours was spacious, with a huge comfortable bed, and an enormous modern bathroom. The shower was the size of a small room, with a towering glass door and plenty of water pressure. The dining is a particular highlight. The resort contains several restaurants, including the more casual Stickney's, which has a diverse menu of good, family-style food, and the more formal dining room, which is perfect for a special occasion dinner. The service is relentlessly pleasant -- ready to answer your questions, guide your day or help with whatever you need. The Cave is not to be missed -- it's a prohibition bar in the basement that feels a world away, with every drink you could want and performances every night. And then there's everything outside: the beautiful trails around the property (the walk to the "Tunnel" is well worth it if you want to find a peaceful spot in the mountains), a world-class golf course, and the incredible views of White Mountains in every direction. Lots of couples were spending time just sitting out back, watching the sun against the trees, a simply amazing way to unwind. There are also two pools on the property (one inside, one outside), and, when winter comes, skiing across the street or several other areas in nearby North Conway. We are frequent visitors to New Hampshire, but this was our first stay at the Mount Washington, and it met our expectations in every way.

Large white wrap around veranda with rocking chairs and cascading flower beds. Views of mountain ranges. Golf and tennis on site. Spacious common areas with museum quality artwork and fireplaces. Large outdoor swimming pool, two swimming holes and an indoor pool, spa and fitness area. A beautiful place to stay and we would definitely pay resort prices to stay here again.
Ask for a room overlooking the rear of the property and the mountains. Our bed was comfortable with top quality bedding. There is a desk in the room great for using your laptop with free wifi. Bright and airy bathroom with complimentary high end toiletries. We basically only used the room for sleeping and some work catchup tho. Too much to do at and surrounding the resort.
There are planned activities throughout the day – crafts for children, scavenger hunt for families. If you go on the nature hike be aware that the young girl in charge is an enthusiastic skier but does not know much at all about birds, flowers or plants. Although she was friendly, it was disappointing to not learn anything about the foliage and fauna of the area.
While we were staying they were working on the roof so there was scaffolding up marring the beauty of the building on the one side; however, you need to expect a historical place to have upkeep done. There was no undue noise or inconvenience due to this work and by the time you get there it may be completed.
Tip: Have lunch on the outside patio of Stickney’s Restaurant if the day is warm to take advantage of the view. The food is delicious and the waitstaff friendly and attentive. We ate here two days and shared our meals as the portions are quite large, even the salads. Tip: In the early evening have appetizers and drinks served by the Rosebrook Bar while sitting on the veranda. They provide a complimentary mix of wasabi, nuts and cranberries which is good and healthy. Tip: Go down to the Cave at least one night to try the historical specialty drink served in a teacup. We went midweek and there were very few patrons. Luckily the couple next to us were friendly so we had a nice two hours of conversation at the bar. There are little tables around the stone walled bar as well. Other nights they have live music or sports rah-rahing.
Ask the concierge for the self-guided historic tour book if you don’t get a chance to go on the employee guided tour. The tour book takes you to all rooms of the resort and gives you the background of the Bretton Woods International Monetary Conference held here in 1944. Go to the Welcome Meet and Greet with the resort manager and talk to the activities director who can answer all your questions. Tip: Ask her about the ghost and the ghosthunters. Plus you get free tasty wine in the pretty little Princess room.
There is a free shuttle available to run you to area attractions, although they do have a tip jar. Be careful tho as it won’t wait at a stop for other guests. We found that out and had to ask twice for the shuttle to be called to get us. We had used this service for transport to the canopy ziplining. Tip: Do the ziplining as it is a blast.
Some general info is that there was no refrigerator in our room, breakfast is not included, but there is a nice gift shop with a selection of higher priced merchandise and a flower and bake shop on the lower level.
My main disappointment was that the front desk was not very welcoming when we checked in, just rushed us even tho no one was behind us in line. Also they did not provide us with a map of the grounds even tho we had to wait for our room to be ready. If this happens to you, ask them for the map and for the tour book so that you can make your way around. The front desk lady also did not tell us that as first time Omni select guests we were eligible for a complimentary breakfast drink and pressings. We did not realize this until we had checked out. They basically just give you a paper with your key card that looks more like a room service paper so make sure you use this for your amenities. Do what we did not do and get your free drinks and pressing! I did speak to another member at the front desk about how I felt in a nice way but all the man said was that they don’t give out maps of the hotel unless they are asked and nothing else –no apology. Other than the front desk experience, my husband and I enjoyed ourselves and wish you safe travels on your own journey!

Great place!! Beatiful resort and good service.
Do not settle for the motel across the street and enjoy the veranda with a Daiquiri at 4 PM.
Kids (teenagers) also loved the place.
Golf course is more o a challenge than it looks, beware!!

Just spent a few days at the Mt Washington Hotel. We were there for a business conference. We had not been there in a few years and the $60 million dollar makeover is very visible. Views as always just drop dead gorgeous but the food and interior were so much better than in the past and we liked both before! The staff seems to all be drinking polite and happy medicine as they went out of their way to say hi and be helpful without being annoying. The indoor pool addition was great as it was a little cool to use the outside pool. Everything was spotless despite ongoing work on the outside of the hotel. We will be back! Soon I hope. Oh and the bed was verrrry comfortable.

Room Tip: The rooms looking out at Mt Washington are just great.

We stayed here last year and decided to stop by for lunch on our way to another destination. There's nothing like having a lunch and being able to see Mount Washington out the expansive windows. The view is unbeatable....weather permitting. Our lunch was very well presented. The food was great and the service top-notch. Always worth the visit.

The resort generously donated two nights on a weekend to a charity event, and we won the auction. We had a wonderful time eating at the restaurants, partaking of High Tea, golfing, swimming in the pool (the outdoor one since it was perfect weather), walking the grounds, and getting a massage. There were lots of young people, including many children, and everyone was having a fun time. It's a great get-away and staff members are extra friendly. Our room was a reasonable size, very clean, with a comfortable bed and a spectacular view of the resort grounds and the mountains. This place is like a cruise ship, though, you don't want to spend a lot of time in your room.

My wife and I stumbled on....actually, not stumbled, but went right to the source, Trip Advisor, who has NEVER let us down! Thanks to all the great reviews and tips, we decided on Omni Mount Washington Resort. It was our 20th anniversary and we left the pesky teen-agers at home for once. About 3 hours from Boston, we booked multiple nights based on Trip Advisor reviews. The property is in the middle of New Hampshire near White Mountains. It is in a bowl and you get excellent views of the surrounding mountains. The veranda wraps nearly all the way around the huge hotel and is where you want to go to right after you drive there, or in the evenings and daytime. Just order a drink, relax, and let them do their magic. Go over and zip line 180 feet above the forest floor, a must! Gorgeous rooms, excellent staff, great spa, and you can even go into the Cave, a prohibition-era hideaway downstairs (a bit loud music at times, but drop in and have a drink). Arcade room! long hallways with much history. The grounds are great, lay on the grass and look at the stars at night! Plan on golfing or at least hiking around the property! Multiple pools outside/inside, jacuzzis, tennis, you name it! Yes, it is pricey, but it is exactly where you MUST go if you want the goods. Quit looking for $100 or even $200 rooms, on season, get the $300 rooms at Omni and you won't be dissapointed. I am a cheap-skate, but I know when and where to park overpriced room money, and this place sure was it. If you want cheap, you'll get what you pay for. JUST GO THERE. Get a room facing the mountains. Ask extensive questions and keep reading reviews via trip advisor!

Room Tip: Ask very specific questions on where the rooms are facing! Mountains or nothing!
