“History Alive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

The Cog is a really fun way to see Mt Washington and to experience living history. The conductors are all extremely knowledgeable about the history and the equipment and you will come away from the experience much more knowledgeable about both. As of my last visit, a coal-fired steam engine ran the first run of the day, all other runs were operated by diesel powered engines. If you are a true train buff you may want to secure a ride on the steam engine, but either way it will be an exciting and enjoyable experience.
You may hesitate a bit at the cost to ride, but there is a lot of cost associated with operating this line so it all goes to a good cause. Keep in mind hiking the beautiful mountain as well if you have the time and energy as there are many spectacular trails to explore.
The alpine zone at the summit is very special for the area, so please respect the trails so the fragile plants don't get damaged.

“Awesome experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

Great trip up the mountain! We had family come in from Florida and they were amazed by the whole trip. Everyone was wonderful and ticket agents helpful. We got stuck in traffic and missed our time to board. They were kind enough to book us on the next train. Highly recommend this trip. Worth every penny!

“Very Impressive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

Whilst we were in New Hampshire, my wife and I did not want to miss a trip on the Cog Railway to the summit of Mount Washington and, boy, am I glad we did it. It is a great piece of engineering and the trip to the top is fantastic. The conductor/brake man was very good with loads of interesting facts and information on top of his brake man duties. At the summit when we arrived, we could hardly see a hand before our eyes due to the cloud which swathed the peak but within a few minutes the cloud cleared and the views which were then revealed were stunning and breathtaking. There is a visitor centre and museum at the summit which is well worth a visit and, at this point, it is worth mentioning that it's a good idea to take a warm coat along as the temperature at the top rarely gets above 5 deg.C.
If you are within driving distance, this attraction is certainly worth a visit.

“" Top of New England"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

We finally decided to take the trip up the Cog railway. Tickets were a bit steep, but so was the climb :). It is definitely a once in a lifetime thrill. Hopefully the weather cooperates , and you can make it to the top that day to really soak in all the views. We heard and seen the stories of the views from the summit, but were eager to see it for ourselves. We had a clear day that gave up some of the most amazing views we have ever seen. The train rides up and down with all the views were simply amazing. The conductors were very amusing and informative. The gift shops top and bottom were priced reasonably. Again this is a once in a lifetime thrill.

“Eye-Popping !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2014

When you look up the side of that enormous mountain and think of that little train climbing up, its chilling! Well riding up is quite a rush! The angle of the train is so steep the seats are slanted.....its like a slow roller-coaster climb. And the views are stunning.....this is the way to see the White Mountains!!

We hit a great day and went to the summit, although one minute was sunny and the next minute was cloudy. Overall it was very clear, but take a jacket because the temp and wind can change quickly, and its much cooler up there.
