“Amazing B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2008

The Bear Mountain Lodge is the only place to stay if you are visiting the White Mountains. The owners, Mike and Carol, are so hospitable and will help you plan your days and evenings. The lodge is absolutely gorgeous and has terrific views of Mt. Washington. The property is set back from the main road, so it is nice and quiet. The breakfast was also great. The decor of the lodge is wonderful. Would definitely stay here again!!!

The Bear Mountain Lodge is a beautifully built log structure with a wonderful view from the deck. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The common areas - a large living room with an open fire place, the breakfast area, the deck and the garden - provide lots of additional and very comfortable space. The inn keepers are very focused on providing the best possible service for their guests. Michael was knowledgeable about the area, interacted in a friendly and relaxed manner with his guests, and really made everyone feel at home. Books about the area, maps, and hiking information are also available for the use of guests.

The lodge is close to all White Mountain attractions. Bethlehem also offers some good food - don't miss the Cold Mountain Cafe, if you like healthy, interesting food prepared from fresh local ingredients.

Definitely worth a visit, if you are looking for a quiet retreat in a beautiful, natural setting.

My brother had discovered the Bear Mountain Lodge the year before on a skiing trip. Since we wanted to hike in Franconia Notch, we wanted to stay nearby in a B&B. The lodge was amazing - a fabulous view and a stunning log-cabin construction. The lodge is well off of the road - a distinct plus since the prior year we could not sleep when we stayed at a B&B with our room overlooking a busy road. I did a little birding around the very nice garden and surrounding woods and then we enjoyed a lovely breakfast. I would definitely go back again!

My husband and I stayed at the Bear Mountain Lodge for one night in July 2008. I wish we could have stayed the entire week. The huge log home is just a few years old and is absolutely gorgeous. We stayed in the White Tail room, which was equipped with a very comfy bed, a great cushiony rocking chair, and a TV and DVD player. Our bathroom had a beautiful slate floor, antique brass fixtures, and a very unique copper bowl sink. The views from the back deck are spectacular, and you can see Mt. Washington in the distance. The house has river frontage on the Amonoosuc just a ten minute walk away. It was a great place to go for a dip after a long day of hiking.

Mike and Carol are excellent hosts. Carol is a wonderful cook, and her lemon ricotta pancakes are to die for! We will definitely be returning to the lodge soon - perhaps to see what the views look like during fall foliage or winter. I would highly recommend the Bear Mountain Lodge for a great mountain getaway.

I do not typically take the time to post a review online, however, there is no other place to stay if your looking at a great get a way place. You will feel like your royalty. Each room is appointed perfectly. I stayed in the eagals nest room, it it was amazing. If you want to impress your significant other or spouse - this is how to do it. We liked it so much, we booked the entire lodge for our company perk get a way.

Book now, if you wait, you will lose out on a great experience.

We enjoyed our stay at Bear Mountain Lodge very much. Our room was very comfortable, clean, and had a steam shower. The lodge is magnificant with a view to match. It was a great New Hampshire experience to sit at a campfire after dinner. The owners are friendly, very informative to the many local attractions and we look forward to returning in the future.

A visit to the Bear Mountain Lodge is a must, if you like peace and quiet, comfort, a 'last all day' breakfast and fantastic views of NH forests and Mount Washington, Michael and Carol are great hosts and will give you the inside information on where to eat locally and where to spot the wildlife - we would have missed the 2 black bears and the moose. We have stayed in many B&Bs in the states and it's certainly one of the best.
