“Fantastic location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

We've stayed here twice, once over Thanksgiving and once in January. Thanksgiving there was no snow except on top of Heavenly mountain. January tonnes of snow everywhere! Thanksgiving check in was awful, our room was not ready on time and we spent a lot of money in the game room keeping the kids occupied until it was. January was on time and no issues. The location cannot be beat, walk to the lake, walk to Safeway, short drive to the resort area of South Lake Tahoe, Heavenly Mountain etc. Units were well maintained and stocked. There is a pool and small playground on site. Only a few complaints, the lack of blinds, curtains etc. The rooms are bright early in the am which gives you no chance of sleeping in. Room darkening curtains would be a bonus. Also the smokers on the balconies and patios. The smell would draft into our room and we couldn't leave the sliding door open for fresh air. They should make the property completely non smoking. We had a two bedroom suite and it was more than enough room for us even when we traveled with my mom. Overall a great stay with some minor annoyances. As a Worldmark owner this is one of our favorite locations to stay in.

We checked into our room and it had a terrible odor, like spoiled meat. There were urine spots on the carpet and the handle the the bathroom faucet is about to fall off. Maintenance sprayed something in the room, but it didn't help much and they spot cleaned the carpet. Also disappointing is no free Internet. Usually World Mark places are nice, but this place not so much.

Now branded as Wyndham, South Shore was a perfect stay. The staff was welcoming and responsive. The grounds and unit (1 bedroom deluxe) were immaculate. Our 2nd-floor unit had a mountain slope view (no lake), vaulted ceilings, a gas fireplace, laundry, whirlpool tub (5 ft) and a full kitchen. There was even an infrared grill on the patio.

Beach is about 1/3 mile away and there was a small fee for access. Close to town and other activities.

We used it as a "base", so no comments about on-site amenities. We weren't "blown away", but very pleased with our stay and would definitely stay there again

Everything about our trip to Wyndham South Shore was great. The location is outstanding. For walking, there is a state park with walking and bike paths to the beach, some with historic explanations of the area. The bike path connects to a number of bike routes around the California side of the lake. For driving, the location is convenient to Stateline casinos and Heavenly Valley skiing. Since it is next to Hwy 50, it is easy to venture to Carson City & Reno, or to drive around Lake Tahoe. The room was like a nicely appointed apartment, with a well-equipped kitchen. There was even an electric barbecue on the porch. The pool area was clean and uncrowded (though it was not high season yet.) There is a pool table, a game room and a gym adjacent to check-in. All personnel were friendly and helpful. This was a good vacation for us, and the Wyndham South Shore resort unquestionably added to the experience. One note, there is only space by the rooms for one car, but there is off-site parking across the street from the entrance for additional vehicles. You definitely need a car to visit Lake Tahoe. There are bears in the area (we saw one in the middle of the night) so you shouldn't leave food in your car. We also saw a coyote.

Room Tip: Rooms at the base of Round Hill on the lake side of the resort are quiet and have a nice view of the...

We arrived a little early, no problems getting a room. Very comfortable accomodations!
Sale tour was very low key as they have nothing to sell at this timeshare but more points.
Concierge was very helpfut with suggesting boat tour and things to do.

Our arrival at South Shore was so easy. We checked in several hours early and the office folks were very helpful and friendly.
No hard sell to take the TS sales tour. The unit is very clean and well stocked. Six adults have plenty of room in this three bedroom deluxe unit. Fireplace feels good this morning.
About a 10 minute drive to the casinos. Safeway is right across the street. Not much snow but weather is in the 60's so the week should be pleasant.
Walked around the resort and it is well kept and clean. Noticed all units have a new electric grills and patio furniture. This is a nice touch and we will use the grill later this week. We found the snow plow and glad it is parked and not in use.
Welcome package had just enough things for the first night of relaxing with coffee and tea.
We expect this week to be just great and South Shore a good home base.

My husband and I love visiting South Lake Tahoe, we are here a few times a year and ever since we have stayed at this resort we haven't stayed anywhere else.

There wasn't any snow this time around but my husband and our two boys love to snowboard so we usually go to Sierra since it's a little cheaper than Heavenly. Also it is always cheaper to rent your equipment at one of the little shops before you get to the ski lodge. There are a lot of places that rent this equipment out.

The rooms at this resort are always nice, clean, and spacious. This time we brought my mother and we rented a 3 bedroom and there was plenty of room for all 5 of us. The jacuzzi tub is always a nice benefit in the room and the fireplace is easy to use.

This is the first time we were able to use their pool and hot tub and it was just perfect. Only thing you should be aware of is when you get out of the pool to get in the hot tub some of the tiles are a little lose.

The rec room is always a hit with my boys. They love playing pool and ping pong and every time we have gone to this resort it is never overcrowded.

Now I have seen some people complain about the wifi connection, I have never understood this. Why are you on the internet when you are on vacation? My teenage boys aren't even on their electronic devices when we are away somewhere. Get outside and explore a little instead of being inside with your face planted to a screen!!

It is a little further out from the casino's but it's not too far. We love this resort and will keep coming back.
