West Wendover was a passing through spot for us and we choose the Montego Bay, as it was the newest of the 3 casino hotels in the city. We had a large comfortable room on the 7th floor (the top floor) with king size bed. Very good value for room this size.
Other than dinner in the casino restaurant, we did not partake of the gambling, pool, fitness center, etc.
The majority of people were seniors, like ourselves. Not sure if this is always the case, or just due to midweek and the time of year (after school has started).
At 4:30am in the morning we were awakend by the fire alarm. We did not hear any announcements about whether to evacuate or not so we walked down all seven flights of stairs. Some guests had said they had heard right away it was a false alarm but we did not. My biggest concerns were that as we exited the building, there were no fire trucks present (I guess a good sign that it was a false alarm), and no employees to either direct us or give us information. Another guest said that these false alarms have happened in the past here. Not sure if technical problems or someone pulling the alarm.
It appeared that the hotel was having difficulty shutting the alarm off as it periodically would go off. Finally after 20 or so minutes, people started going back into the hotel. Only 1 hotel employee ever said, "Sorry for the inconvenience" and even that was about time it was taking the elevators to get back online. As we walked back in, it appeared that gabmbling had never even stopped during the event.
While the hotel itself was nice, comfortable, and a good value, I don't think management responded well in communication to the guests. Having said this, at no time did I feel in danger. There were no problems exiting the building.
Be sure to ask for non-smoking if you are not a smoker.
