“Large, quiet, clean rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

When preparing for our trip to Virginia City I did a lot of searches for rooms on C Street. I really wanted to experience the old buildings (and a possible ghost sighting) but they lacked amenities that we really wanted. I'm so glad we stayed at the Silverland Inn & Suites. It had everything we needed at a reasonable rate. The hotel is close enough that we could walk the main street, go back for a nap and resume our sightseeing (bar hopping). The rooms are big, clean and quiet. The only bad thing I can think of... a king size bed should have more than 2 pillows. Yep, that's my only complaint =)

We wanted to stay in Virginia City, close enough to walk to the attractions and historic district, but we wanted an up-to-date hotel. This was perfect. We had a pool, hot tub, free wifi, free breakfast, laundry facility and we could purchase snacks or drinks right on the property. We did walk to the main street, but there is a vehicle that runs back and forth for tips if walking is difficult.

The hotel is well managed and reasonably priced. The staff were helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend if you want a clean comfortable room.

When visiting the historic silver mining town of Virginia City many people search for a B and B that occupies an old mansion or rooms above one of the famous bars. It can be interesting to stay in those places, but they are usually short on amenities. The Silverland Inn is fairly new and doesn't pretend to be a facsimile of a historic building. It is clean and comfortable, however, and offers all the amenities modern travelers want including a pool, hot tub, secure parking, WyFy, computer in the lobby, and a continental breakfast. The latter is important because most the year, from Monday through Friday, there is no cafe open in town for breakfast. The continental breakfast is adequate (muffins, bagels, coffee, juice, cereal). Rooms are spacious with surprisingly comfortable beds.

It's not a bad place, but for some reason they decided to seal the windows shut so you can't open them anymore. You used to be able to open them, and it was so nice to be able to do so. In most hotels it's no big deal, but up here in the mountains, you kind of expect to be able get some fresh mountain air in the room. Besides, the AC units don't have a FAN or ventilation capability, and the rooms get pretty warm, even in the winter, so now you're stuck listening to the AC cycle on and off all night (if you're lucky, that is. Ours didn't seem to work correctly, so we sweated much of the night.) I've only stayed in one other hotel that had windows you couldn't open AT ALL, and that place had a ventilation system in the AC unit.

Otherwise, the place is great. A couple of rooms have big Jacuzzis, and those rooms aren't that much more expensive. Every time I've been here the rooms have been very clean. The beds are soft and have plenty of blankets and pillows.

The halls can get noisy sometimes, so if you want a quiet room, try getting one on the far end of a hall. The free breakfast is mainly stuff like yogurt, cereal, muffins, juice, and coffee. There are no waffles, eggs, etc. Parking is easy with lots of spaces.

The staff has always been friendly and very helpful.

If it wasn't for those !@#$% windows.... :-)

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room with a Jacuzzi, ask for the Honeymoon suite. Ask for a room facing away fr...

Friendly, comfortable & convenient. This place was perfect for our brief stay in VC. Would have happily stayed at least one more night for all there was to see there & we visited in possibly the quietest time ever. Silverland was very comfortable & our room with 2 queen beds for our family of 4, 2 adults, 2 children, was very roomy as it had an extra sitting room too. Highly recommend if you want comfort rather than quaint in this historic town.

We stayed at the Silverland Inn this time as it was a little less expensive than where I usually stay and I was on a business trip. I was very pleased with this decision. We met the GM, Robert, who showed us around the place. It is super clean and comfortable, a great pool and the room had an awsome view. It was as good as any of the Holiday Inn Expresses we had stayed at the last few days (for which we paid much more). They have a lot of rooms and good parking, just a block off Main Street.

Room Tip: Rooms on the east side have a great sunrise view!

In VC for a wedding. Others stayed in an old, creeky B&B but since we've stayed at Silverland several times in the past, it was a no brainer. Seamless from check-in to check out 3 days later. The standard room is a tad bit small and the coat rack can interfere with the door closing. Free wifi and many cable channels on TV. Ironing board and iron in room a plus! In the past and future, we will spend the extra $25 +/- and get a suite. Comfortable beds, nice shower massage head and friendly staff. One of the prime reasons we stay here is the heated in door pool and adjacent jacuzzi. VERY nice breakfast bar in the mornings, coin-op laundry machines and a good supply of necessary items- toiletries, snacks, frozen food entrees, beer/wine by the bottle, microwave to heat up leftovers and a small work out room w/ modern equipment. Lots of interesting historic VC photos, ore samples, curios, etc to view and general Victorian decor.

Lots of free parking and its a comfortable 5 minute or less walk to all the VC attractions. Check out the Red Dog Saloon for live music and good pizza. Large beer selection.

Room Tip: Get a suite for more room to relax-- well worth the little extra for the benefits. Be sure to get a...
