Virginia City is a pretty hokey place - full of tacky tourism and historical significance to say nothing of a fabulous setting. Edith Palmer's was fabulous - perched at the top of the town so you could look out down the mountain - beautiful. Leisa was incredibly friendly and helpful (she let me use her laptop to check my email which i very much appreciated). The room was wonderful and incredibly cozy. There was a wonderful patio outside which was a great place to sit and read and breath in the sage. I really didn't want to leave. The new restuarant next door, the Casa Del Rio is fabulous! Great food and great service. They are renovating a building just down the hill within sight of the inn and will move there soon but still very close. The only thing about Edith Palmer's that was disappointing was the breakfast. We've traveled a great deal and mostly stay in B&B's and this was more of a continental breakfast which is OK but should be made clear. People staying at a B&B usually expect a full breakfast - eggs, etc. This was basically a bowl of sliced fruit and your choice of store-bought muffins, danish, granola bars. Still we did love it and would stay there again in a flash.
