5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

My family stayed at the motel when we visited Virginia city this past summer. The new owners are very nice and helpful. They have each room decorated differently to go along with the feel of the town (they showed us several of the rooms) The rooms are all very clean and interesting. We loved the little back yard that had picnic tables and a beautiful view. The owners were very helpful to make our stay memorable. We loved that it was a great location to town, but not right in the middle of the busy tourist traffic. We will definitely go back.

My family recently stayed here and had a wonderful time! The new owners are extremely kind and helpful. The inn has a boutique feel and is very clean. My family, adults and children of all ages, really loved exploring the surrounding attractions. We will definitely be back!

Just stayed with them in September 2013 while at the camel/ostrich races. Owners very friendly and made my stay as a single traveler very pleasant. New owners who have improved the rooms with western themes. Loved the view out the back where they have placed a picnic table and swing to enjoy the sunset. Close to town but far enough away to be quiet.

My family just visited the Virginia City Motel last week. It has been TOTALLY REMODELED by NEW OWNERS. It was clean and charming and all the rooms were decorated in quaint motifs based on local history. The view out the window was so stunning! I can't wait to return with my sweetheart to stay in the Victorian Anniversary Suite!

Room Tip: For panoramic views of the mountains and the olde Virginia city....stay in room 11 - The anniversary...

We stayed here for three nights while walking across America, on The Great American Walkabout. The managers were so cool, we spent a lot of time hanging out and talking. They took us out to American Flats, a locals only kind of secret, that really made our trip. They told us some of the Virginia City History, and recommended some places to stay. They were so friendly, we really had a great time.

The motel is very old, and has some history itself. There are some stories that it is haunted, and one of my companions, Michael, claimed to see a ghost while there. The rooms are small but cozy, and they were well kept considering the age of the motel. It is a humble place but is really quite perfect, and is also very affordable. I certainly recommend it. Kind friendly staff. Thanks guys!

Room Tip: Ask which rooms are haunted!

Had eagerly looked forward to a return visit, this time taking friends who had heard me rave about this hotel for a year. I didn't know ownership/management had changed. Arrived late at night; in fact about 1 a.m. Rooms were ready as promised and we were thankful heat had been turned on, so nice and cozy. Checkout six hours later was a HUGE shock and disappointment - we were charged $160 for two rooms. Needless to say, I won't be back.

Made a reservation 3 months ago and confirmed it last Monday. Was assured we had a room (#13). When we arrived to check-in Saturday the office was locked and no one around. We waited for an hour and half before manager showed up with beer in hand. We were informed there were no vacancies. After some exchange she says, "what do you want me to do , pull a room out of my ***? We had to scramble to find a room back in Reno. Ruined our weekend plans. Very poor business practices.

I am sorry this happened to you. I left virginia city motel sept. 7,2011. the new manager must not care as much as I did. I want you to know, if it was me it would never had happened.
