This restaurant is no secret in Tonopah; most locals will tell you it is easily the best restaurant in town. It's also recognized as such by the AAA.
I'm a true lover of chili rellenos (relleno lovers read on; others skip this part). Having lived in the southwest for many years, normally ordering them when available, and being of retirement age, I've easily had more than a thousand over the years - including many in New Mexico, where I've always thought they were a bit better than anywhere else. But, I tried them here - always hoping for a treat. Wow!!! These put to shame every one I've ever had, at least to my taste - a 10 here and the best of all others maybe a 7. How so? The tenderest chilis (NO tough skin or cap); the best, perfect cheese filling; and to top it off the most wonderful sauce that's ideal for rellenos. If these might not be strictly "traditional" rellenos (because of the latter two variables), to me they were far better.
I was so impressed that, with no schedules to meet, I stayed overnight and came back for more the next day. I was prepared for a letdown; nothing could be that good twice in a row when I'm expecting perfection. Wrong - they were absolutely as totally good as the day before.
Also talked with a few customers while waiting to be seated, and at adjacent tables. The locals all have their favorite entrees here, which they defended as enthusiastically as I have the above. Most get Mexican dishes, but they have the usual burgers, steaks and seafood as well.
In a word, recommended without reservation when in Tonopah. Enjoy!
