“Over a decade of good times”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

My grandparents have a time share here so we've been staying there one week a year since 1997. We stay in the Plaza building on the Carson Valley view side and it's amazing. The hotel is about a 7-10 minute drive from the clubs but there is a free shuttle that leaves every half hour that will take you to and from downtown. The rooms have been remodeled in the past couple years. The only thing that I'm not crazy about are the Sleep Number beds. Also, it's usually cooler on the ridge so the rooms only have ceiling fans and a small portable air conditioner so when it is hot, that's not ideal but usually the heat isn't a problem. This is a great family resort with activities for everyone.

We stayed in my in-laws lockoff portion of their timeshare they purchased back in '98. Travelling with our 1.5 year old for the first time to The Ridge, I wasn't sure how it would be - it was great. The room (6th floor of the Cascade) was spacious, clean, & was stocked with dishes, soap, microwave, mini fridge, & coffee maker. You are literally at the top edge of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, so it is windy - every day. We were here before so we knew to prepare for that and brought ear covers for our tater tot and light hoodies for ourselves. There is a playground that was perfect for our Tot at the Terrace Building next door.

Best Memories:
There is a new moderate hiking/bike trail that takes 2.5-3.5 hours to hike down to town (with the little one, we needed to stop several times and just focus on her so it took us 3.5). It was beautiful with some fantastic views of the lake and the casinos from above. The Go Blue took us back up to The Ridge.
Food from the deli was excellent as was the service.

Disappointments:
-We had a medical package and paid to have it overnighted to arrive on Saturday. They didn't pick it up until Monday and just gave excuses.
-There is a children's activity "drop off" for 3+yr olds. The concierge told me that I could join with my little one, but when I tried they told me that I couldn't come in with her it was drop off only.

Notes:
-Try not to just let those heavy doors slam. Ugh our room was right next to housekeeping and someone was staying in the larger suite next door and the door slamming jarred me when trying to put our little one to sleep.
-Remember it's windy here.
-The restaurant is not open every day. The deli has split shift hours. Plan for that.
-There are games at the spa desk that you can check out.

Room Tip: Because my in-laws are owners, the Huz says that the room will always be on the 6th floor of the Cas...

My Family stayed in a "Remodeled" 2 Bed 2 Bath Condo unit at The Ridge in June . Beautiful location, awesome amenities. Our building had a Jacuzzi on the 8th Floor....Amazing views!!!
It gets very windy in the evening so pack your jackets

*Note...Make sure you don't book at "Ridge Pointe" This building is Off-Site from the resort and
you have to take a shuttle to get to the main building for all the amenities etc

We did a timeshare exchange to The Ridge and stayed in one of their hotel suite type rooms. It was one of the "lock off" rooms and unfortunately was in the bottom floor of the Terrace building with NO view. We looked out onto a huge concrete wall. Very disappointing. The resort itself is very nice, but we just we not that impressed. It is located at the top of Heavenly and was quite windy and much colder than down at lake level. There is a deli that is open at certain times of the day, and a restaurant that is only open on the weekends. Their market has some basic food items.

Room Tip: Be sure to inquire about the view when you make your reservation. Many of the Terrace building room...

Difficult to find without instructions, this is a complex of buildings, some rooms offering a great view over the valley. We had a microwave, fridge, coffee maker (with no instructions), a bedside light plugged in to a non working socket, another broken one on a table. There were also maintenance issues in the corridor outside. One window screen was broken. We were told this was a refurbished room.

What really upset us was the we checked in at about 7.30 after a very long drive and were given a leaflet about dinner - a good looking 3 course meal at a sensible price. At 7.55 we came from our room looking for the restaurant. I asked a member of staff where it was and they directed me up stairs to a closed restaurant - ie it had never been open. We then found the bar and the barman told us that the other restaurant was in another building we could drive to. However, he was closing at 8.00 and there was a single choice of stir fry in a cafe area downstairs, also closing at 8.00. We succumbed to that. then a guest told us we could have got a free shuttle bus to the other restaurant.

So, we were given inadequate and misleading information and it spoiled our evening. They were 'in between' seasons and the general attitude of the staff showed.

I asked at the Concierge Desk about boat trips and was directed into the gift shop. There they admitted to only booking one operator, but said that the Concierge could provide details of others. I explained that the Concierge had directed me to them and she simply shrugged her shoulders, as much as to say 'well that is what you get'.

There is a difference between Concierge and 'lady sat behind a desk' and I suggest that that change the sign on her desk to the latter.

If ya are looking for a nice and clean place to stay this is it. Review is for a 1bedroom suite. Very well maintained and kid friendly. On-site they have activities like miniature golf, jacuzzi's, pool with views and all other goodies. Its located uphill so views are a added bonus. The staff is super friendly and eager to please and work with ya. Their parking garage has ample space easy access. Suites are very well equipped with a full size kitchen with all untensils, full size refrigerator. The living room has a sofa bed which is very comfortable and 2adults can comfortably sleep on it. If ya like skiing they have enough snow in that area to make it happen.

In a nutshell, if ya want a well maintained place to stay and can afford to stay off the Lake Tahoe Blvd area this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: Try to book a room on the weekdays to get a better rate.
