“Worst hotel in South Tahoe”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2006

Old, dirty, smells bad, and very unfriendly. I researched all the hotels in the area and thought the Inn was the best deal with a rating of 4.5 out of 5. Should be more like 2.0 out of 5. Not sure how they got such a high review with such a horrible place. The room was very tiny, carpet ripped out, no frig, and seemed very worn out. I asked for two beds, got one king instead and had to share with a dude. The view was not good, it was not close to other casinos, the shower was terrible, and the staff was very rude. It looks and feels like a cheap broken down 70s motel. The place smelled like cigarettes and flatulence. If your looking for something clean, nice, inexpensive and close, don't stay here! Your much better of at the Holiday Inn.

We stayed at Lakeside for 6 nights and really enjoyed it. Our room was right by the hot tub (though it was closed for 3 of the days we were there). The drink special makes it all worth it!! Lakeside has $2 drinks ALL THE TIME unless you are gambling which makes them free!! We had no luck gambling at Lakeside (I was HOT at Harrah's). The food at Lakeside is pretty good, but the service at The Timber Lodge is very very slow. If you vacation in Tahoe, unless you are ski-in-ski-out, I would HIGHLY recommend renting a car. The free shuttle service to and from Heavenly is very slow and unpredictable. Sometmes we waited for an hour for a shuttle. Overall, our room was clean and very nice. I have "issues" staying in inexpensive hotels, because you may feel the need to wear shower shoes in the bathtub, but Lakeside was very clean and I was very comfortable. It's not a five star hotel, but it was perfect for us and our budget. I am glad we stayed here and only visited the expensive Casinos to gamble.

This hotel was recommended to us by family and it helped out a lot since they gave us a discount! This place is cozy.

ROOM:
Pros: Cozy feel to it. Comfy bed. We had a sliding glass door that led right out to the pool area.

Cons: Kind of small (we had a king size bed), but cozy. The walls are paper thin though. You could hear people running up and down the stairs. The idiots across the hall from us were loud as can be late at night and you could hear everything they were saying/doing. You could also hear water running through the pipes in the walls.

CASINO:
Pros: Variety of different games. Friendly staff. It also helped that I won big money on the Wheel of Fortune slot!

Cons: Kind of small. Not allowed to smoke cigars in the casino. Didn't see a cocktail waitress once while we were gambling.

DINING:
Pros: Cheap prices, big portions, good food. Nice wait staff.

Cons: The waitress at the Mexican restaurant was swamped the night we went, so service was pretty slow.

MISC:
Parking is fine if you park before 5pm. We got in around midnight and had to scour the lot for a spot. We got lucky and parked as someone was leaving. Park early!!
